I was in Bern for a dear friend's wedding. Arrived at 9am but as expected, the room wasn't ready. We left our luggage at the reception and went to check out the sight instead. When we returned to check in around 1pm, we found that our bags had already been brought to our rooms and we were duly impressed... but we realised why when we headed to our rooms. To get to our room, we had to take the lift up one floor, walk through the restaurant to the other wing, walk up a flight of stairs and take the lift up to the third floor where our room was. They must have known that the two of us girls would have trouble lugging our luggage to our rooms. That was probably the only thing I didn't like about the hotel. The room itself was simple, but everything was in good condition - I think the place might have been refurbished recently? Not much of a view from our room, the other wing faces the main road. What was just slightly annoying was the Clock Tower going off every half hour - all through the night. But given that Bern is a small town, you can probably hear it from every hotel. A simple breakfast was provided with the room. Head to the restaurant for a spread of cheese, croissants, breads, cold cuts and if you're early, scrambled eggs. It was in a pretty good location too - cafes, restaurants and supermarkets just a few doors away. But then everything in Bern is just a few doors away... I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for basic accomodation in Bern. My friend, the bride, stayed at another hotel for around the same price but the room was much smaller and more run-down. Cost per night per room was 120CHF.
