When we got to the hotel rather late the desk staff said there was a problem with our booking but not to worry, the Novotel next door had availability and they would charge us the same rate for the Ibis. A great deal considering the Ibis was 162CHF and the Novotel was 280CHF. And the Novotel only charged us 129CHF ($107US) even though our confirmation said 162CHF.
The Novotel was much nicer than any of the Ibis hotels we stayed at but certainly not worth the difference in price.
The bed was OK, there was a minbar, TV, use of an exercise facility nearby, bicycles for use to get into the center of Bern since the hotel was not in the city center.
The toilet was in a separate room than the shower which would have been OK except there was no sink to wash your hands at in the room with the toilet. Shower pressure was OK, the water temperature went hot and cold, kind of like dorm showers in college. When someone flushed, you knew to get out of the way or you'd get scalded! Toiletries included soap, bath gel, shampoo and lotion. There was a hair dryer, the only one I got to use on this trip.
Parking was an extra 12CHF, breakfast buffet was a whopping 25CHF so we passed
