Reflecting Bachalpsee
My most favouite memory of Grindelwald comes from the first time we hiked on the First to the Bachalpsee and got this view of the mountain peak reflected in the Bachalpsee. Stunnning isn't it and a great place for a picnic.

Anyone know?
Also, is it possible to ski there at the end of November?
See your Austria posting and especially the website: http://www.jungfrauwinter.ch/pdf/Betriebsdaten.pdf
You will see there are possibilities in the weekends of 18/19 and 25/26 November, when there is snow enough for skiing.
at least 8 hours by train, change trains at least 2 times. By car a whole day !

Faulhorn was the very first alpine-hotel built in Switzerland and the only way to get there is by hiking from Schnigge Platte, from First or Axalp. The prices in the restaurant and the simple hotel are quite reasonable, when you considder, that all goods have to be taken up there "the hard way"
When intending to spend the night in the hotel - make sure you reserve in advance !!
Moenchsjochhuette is in fact one of the remotest restaurants & hotels in Switzerland, because you have to walk about 45 minutes one way from the Jungfraujoch in order to get there. It is a pity, I did not have enough time to get there, BUT at least I made half-way and had a great time there out on the glacier in perfect weather. Stay on the path, even though the crevasses next to the path might be a temptation for passionate photographers.
Moenchsjochhuette offers also Dormitories / Massenlager - BUT you better reserve your bed in advance - see their telephone-number below !
see here a panorama-view of the path to Moenchstalhuette !
The badenburg live museum makes a fascinating day's trip.Reachable from Grindelwald/Interlaken,it houses model houses of different cantons of switzerland in different periods of history. It is an interesting depection of the lifestyle, occupation and crafts of the bygone era.The way the rooms of individual houses of the bygone era are preserved is truly enchanting-- the furniture, house plan, utensils et al.
While purchasing an entry ticket you could purchase a map to guide you through the museum. It is worth buying this map for the place is vast and the map is very easy to follow.
My favourite part here was the live demonstration of wood carving by one Mr.Fuschs.There are animals in there which all add up to the natural ambience that has been created.
They also have a counter selling different kind of cheese. On the outside you have a store selling fresh chocolate and another selling soviniers and momentos.
Worth a visit!
The Schilthorn is definitely a must-do in Grindelwald! It offers an unmatched alpine panorama from just under 10,000 feet high. To get to the top you take a series of 4 superbe gondola rides, many times hundreds of feet above the ground. It is a THRILL! First from Stechelberg - Gimmelwald, Gimmelwald - Murren, Murren - Birg, Birg - Summit! At the summit is the worlds first revolving mountain-top restaurant, which is also the highest altitude restaurant in continental Europe! And the location of the James Bond film, In Her Majesty's Secret Service! I think it's a better, cheaper alternative to the Jungfraujoch trip, although I have not been there before. On the Jungfraujoch, you go to an altitude of 11,332 feet (3454m) on a train to the highest train station in Europe, but the Schilthorn brings you to 9,744 feet (2970m) on incredible aerial cable-cars, and gives you an impressive view of the famous Eiger, Monch, and Jungfrau that I wouldn't think you would get from the Jungfraujoch. So, that's my comparison for ya.
