worth bringing a baby pram/buggy to get out & abut in Grindelwald

by kirkmeister

Hi
we have never been to the Alps or a ski resort before and will not be skiing.
we are are coming to Grindelwald for 3 nights as i have never seen snowy mountains! we are travelling with our 3 month old baby and will be using a baby carrier some of the time so she will be strapped to us but also keen to bring the buggy pram so it she is sleeping we can still go out to eat.
is a standard buggy okay aroung the resort town? are there pavements or cleared areas or are we unrealitic to think we could push her around a snowy resort town.urgent advice please as we fly this friday
thanks
k

It's been a long time (our "baby" is 14 years old), but we usually had her in a front-mounted sling type carrier when she was very young and moved her to a backpack carrier when she got older. The backpack carrier had legs so we often took it off my back and left her in it to sleep.

When she was younger, we also had a sturdy, but light weight, collapsable travel stoller. It didn't work on all sidewalks (snow would have been nearly impossible), but it was a great place to put her when the rest of us were eating or doing something else. Lightweight and collapsable meant it was easy to carry around too. Prams and heavy duty stollers are just too large and bulky when you travel (we found that out the hard way with our first daughter).

Travel Tips for Grindelwald

Best thing about Grindelwald is not the village

by cjohnson99

Simply the views of the mountains. When the weather is fine (no cloud) then you have uninterrupted views to the South of the Wetterhorn, Shreckhorn and the Eiger, with extensive views down the valley towards Mannlichen. When the snow came in November and transformed the scene into a Winter Wonderland with the lights from the chalets twinkling in the dusk and the smoke from the log fires drifting across the valley

BEER AND DESSERT

by JudyinPA

I KEPT TRYING TO AVOID THE MERINGUE AS A FINISH TO MEALS. THEN BECAUSE OF THE LARGE PORTIONS OF FOOD IN THE MAIN COURSE I DECIDED TO SPLURGE AND ORDER DESSERT, ONLY ALONG WITH A BEER. tHE DESSERT WAS A DELICIOUS BOWL OF MERINGUE, A SORT OF LIGHT SWEET, AIR WHIPPED MERINGUE INCLUDING ICE CREAM. THE BEER WAS TWISTER, A BEER MIXED WITH APPLE DRINK AND ALSO SWEET AND DELICIOUS. THANKS REBIBI FOR BEING SUCH A GOOD PHOTOGRAPHER.

Arrival at Kleine Scheidegg

by dabidc

There were few other travellers at Kleine Scheidegg and the presence of the St Bernard and its owner was a pleasant surprise.

The train from Interlaken via Lauterbrunnen and Wengen arrived promptly and we soon headed out towards the journey inside the mountain.

This photo puts the journey into perspective. the morning was spent getting to the Observation tower, looking around and taking photos and returning to Grindelwald.

A journey of a life time.

Well worth the visit.

Eiger

by Bigs

My favourite Swiss mountain!!! One day I will climb into one of these helicopters that offer flights in this region.... ;)

I´m totally fascinated by the Eiger history and its tragic! Bigsi is in love with an ugly mountain hehe!!
