How can one travel to murren and schillthorn from grindelwald
Is it possible to go to interlaken from grindelwald and be back by night to grindelwald?

Hmmm, haven't done the trip in 38 years but the train managed to make it in 1970. Long day as I started up from Laterbrunnen stopped on the way up, skiied a couple hours and then made it back down and drove back. Very long day though. Probably should have stayed on the mountain and returned the next day but...I was younger then.

We wanted to take the Marmot trail to get from First to Grosse Scheidegg... unfortunately it was closed, but we did venture some way along the trail before deciding to turn back and use the "more direct" route.
In any case, we managed to catch glimpses of some marmots and a deer.
Will definitely go back later in the summer for more animal spotting.
This view and the ones that follow were taken from the observation tower at the Jungfraujoch. this is a tower that one can ascend by elevator , it has an outside observation deck that looks as if it is permanently covered in frost.
It is certainly a different world up there and an experience of a life time.
Summertime is meant for walking in the mountains. An easy thing to do is to take a gondola from Grindelwald up to Firstbahn and then explore from there. The views are remarkable on the way up. Journey takes about 20 minutes and costs about CHF30 one way per person (if you do not have the Jungfrau pass).
Higher is better... Mürren - Schiltorn is the highest skiing area in the Berner Alps up to 2'970m. From Mürren take the cablecar up to the Schiltorn for a 17min ride... There have a break at the world's first revolving restaurant Piz Gloria to enjoy the breathtaking view on the Alps. More than 50km of slopes are waiting for your downhill runs.
