The very quaint and comfortable Hotel Jungfrau is located in the serene town of Murren. When I was shown my room and looked out the window, the scenery took my breath away - it is the picture shown here!This is a small hotel with an attentive staff - the owner, Ann-Marie Goetschi knew each guest by name.
Their restaurant is attached to the hotel and they serve continental breakfast and in the main dining room, wonderfully creative dinners. The courses were pleasing to the eye as well as the palate.
The mountain guide I had used recommended this hotel and the price was included in my tour package. I believe the hotel's website prices include the meals. The service provided by the staff is what stood out here for me. Along with it's comfort and cleanliness, it was everything I wanted in a small town hotel.

Hotel Metropole is a monster-building of more than 15 floors, next to the famous "Grand Hotel Jungfrau Viktoria" and opposite the great restaurant & cafe "Schuh" on Hoehematte. In my opinion it is a shame that such a building was ever built next to many traditional buildings. At least it could easily be found, simply as it is the only sky-scraper in Interlaken. Once that you do not care for the bad, modern architecture, you will find out, it is a great hotel with a perfect view on the mountains, in the very best location in Interlaken, about halfway between both trainstations Interlaken Ost and Interlaken West.
Search for special deals - they offer rather cheap rates out of season, as they have a lot of rooms to fill. they also have a large car-parking !

When you are able to afford such an exclusive place, Grand Hotel Jungfrau Victoria is THE place for you ! The Grandhotel is ment for people who care for a perfect room and excellent service, without having to care as well for the price....
They have an indoor-pool, a large wellness-area, garages, several restaurants, all set up perfectely with cloth-napkins and prices twice as high as usual, a pianist is playing.... All of the rooms face the famous Hoehematte, a meadow with the best "Jungfrau-blick" ,( the famous view on the Jungfrau).
This meadow was bought by the 1st owner of the hotel and given as a donation to the village of Interlaken in the 19th century , with the demand to leave it like it was for all times.
Interlaken is a great base to explore the area

Interlaken is a great place to explore the Jungfrau-region, BUT as a place to go "sightseeing in the village" it is maybe not really worth it. Interlaken is a transportation-hub with excellent train-connections to Grindelwald, Lauterbrunnen, Jungfrau and even to Luzern and Bern etc.
Interlaken is a village of 4000 inhabitants and 14000 hotelbeds and several camping-sites.
Hoehematte is the central meadow in Interlaken (my main picture!), opposite of the Grandhotel Viktoria Jungfrau and it is quite unique in Europe how it could happen that no buildings were placed at this very best piece of land :
At the end of 19th century the owner of Grand Hotel Victoria Jungfrau had given the big meadow in front of his hotel as a gift to the town of Interlaken, and sentenced, that this very big field never will be changed, never put houses on it, or alter anything for a longer time. - Sometimes they have a circus or fair there, and have to remove some stones or a bit of ground - afterwards it will always be restored originally again.And so most of all hotels in Interlaken can offer their guests the famous JUNGFRAU-BLICK - the view on the famous mountain(s)
recently Hoehematte became the favorite place to land for paragliders, who sart their flights at Harder Kulm and will be landing directely on the Hoehematte opposite of the hotel Jungfrau Viktoria. A bus takes them home againInterlaken is quite expensive when it comes to hotelrooms !
For cheaper prices try to get a room in
Ringgenberg, Wilderswil, Lauterbrunnen...
