One of the things I noticed during a walk in Gstaad was the considerable number of banks. I soon found out that there are even more than those I had actually seen: 30 banks in total, most of them branches of big investment banks.
Considering that the village has about 2500 inhabitants, one can reasonably think that the supply of banking services exceeds the local demand, and that wealthy people who come here for skiing take advantage of the opportunity to avail themselves of the Swiss banking system.
