Almabtrieb -once a year
by globetrott
Almabtrieb is once a year, at the end of the summerseason, when the cows and goats will be taken from the higher alps back to the farms down in the valleys. Mostly the cows will be taken in large groups through the village, all animals decorated like in my photos and also the shepherds in their best national costumes.
Its great to see them walk through the villages.
Gstaad in Summer
by Manara
Gstaad is famous mainly as a skiing resort, and in particular as the favourite skiing resort for the very rich.
It is indeed a beautiful village in beautiful surroundings, but this can be said of a lot of other villages in Switzerland, so if I should find any reason for the very rich to prefer this place to any other, my only explanation is that the very rich prefer to stick together.
I have been to Gstaad only on a one-day trip during a holiday in Interlaken. I had passed it by train, on a trip to Montreaux, but I had not actually visited it during my previous holidays in Switzerland.
