I decided to push the boat out and stay at one of the best hotels Interlaken had to offer. The cost worked out at around £100 a night including breakfast. By English standards, quite reasonably priced, but not cheap by most standards!
Whilst not particularly large, the newly renovated room was comfortable and clean but the best feature was the balcony offering fabulous views over to the Jungfrau mountains.
The only slight disadvantage was the lack of air-conditioning in the room, especially as I stayed during a July heat wave. However, Interlaken isn't a particularly noisy town and the patio window on to the balcony can be left open over night without too much trouble.
The views could not be beaten! It is also very easy to reach the hotel from Interlaken West train station.
The selection at breakfast was very good, ranging from sausage, rosti & bacon to cereal, bread, fruit and yogurt. The breakfast room was large and staff were friendly and attentive.
I didn't need to use the reception apart from at check in and check out but again, the staff were friendly and helpful.
Guests also receive a pass for free use of the buses in town. Leave a Comment
