I love the Rugenpark. If you want spotless, economical, convenient accommodations in Interlaken, you will too. It's not the Victoria Jungfrau but the Vic' would be proud to provide you with the level of service offered by Ursula and Chris at the Rugenpark. There is a sign in the community kitchen that says, "Please do not feed our dog, Monty." I mention this because you will never see the sign as Monty always stands between it and anyone who has food. Monty, if you're reading this, don't tell your humans about the chips and salsa!

Welcoming, Comfortable and Value for Money
Rugenpark B&B has stopped advertising on hotel sites because it was getting the wrong kind of visitor. So Chris, the owner, told me when I mentioned how hard I found it to book a room on line. On the point of giving up, I found availability with www.trav.com in their hostel section, and this is the market that Rugenpark is pitching itself at: better than a hostel but without all the facilities of a hotel. As a B&B it's absolutely perfect and if you are interested in comfortable, clean accommodation, in warm friendly surroundings, then look no further.
Unique Quality: Location: Rugen Park is about four minutes walk from Interlaken West station.
Amenities: Comfortable, pretty rooms but not all ensuite. For EUR 43, I got a room with TV, wash handbasin and French doors leading to a little balcony with a view to die for. The bathroom was directly across the hall. Downstairs is a sittingroom with library and free internet access and a room where you can have tea, coffee etc.
Breakfast: Included in room price. As I was leaving on the 7.30 train to Milan ,Chris prepared a breakfast pack for me to eat on the train. Sandwiches, cereal bars, oranje juice and an apple, which actually kept me in nibbles all day.
Helpfulness: See above re breakfast. Within minutes of arriving Chris asked me if I had plans and when I told him I wanted to go to Gimmelwald he booked the trip ( and printed out the ticket) there and then at reception which meant I could leave straight away without the hassle of looking for ticket desks at train and bus stations. This was worth so much to me and saved loads of time and hassle. An invaluable service and one which all hotels in Interlaken probably provide. He also gave me recommendations for local, reasonably priced restaurants.
Ambience: Warm and welcoming, complete with friendly dog called Monty who interacts with all the guests. The owners Chris and Ursula deserve top marks for the way they run Rugen Park. It's an absolute pleasure to stay in and if I'm ever in Switzerland again, I will be heading there like a homing pigeon

Great Choice!!
Hotel Rugenpark is the best choice in Interlaken! We had a balcony room with views of the mountains and wonderful down comforters and pillows (with chocolates on them!). The room and bathroom were nice, clean, and comfortable. There was a TV and free wifi in the room as well.
There is also a guest kitchen with microwave, refirgerator, etc. which is a convenient amenity. Grocery store is only 3 minutes walk.
The hotel is in a good location – within only a few minutes walking distance of town and the train station. The owners were really nice and helpful – with sightseeing/restaurant tips, etc. The included breakfast served in a sunny dining area was good – cereals, fruits, breads, meats, cheeses, and eggs. There is also a computer with internet access and a full bookcase in a nice sitting room.
This was one of the nicest places we stayed during 2 months in Europe. I would definitely recommend staying here.
Please visit their website for full information and all amentities.

What a wonderful place! It is close to everything and great breakfast served up by Chris and Ursula. They made us feel right at home and helped with all kinds of information about were to eat and hike and what to see while we were there. They were extremely helpful! It was the most relaxing part of our three week vacation. If we had to do it all over again we would have stayed longer at the Rugenpark. We will definatly be staying here again!
Rugenpark Was Superb!

Hi all,
My wife Jenny and I just returned from a few days at the Hotel Rugenpark. Both Chris and Ursula were extremely welcoming, accommodating and helpful in giving us suggestions on what to do and see.
It is rare to meet such enthusiastic and hardworking hotel managers that also take the time to inquire about your life and interests and to make suggestions accordingly.
Chris and Ursula did just that, even despite how monumentally busy they both are. It is precisely this kind of quality service and "giving back" [to the customer] that builds genuine, long term customer loyalty.
Again guys, thanks for the exceptional service.
Scott and Jenny

What a fantastic hotel for a beautiful ,comfortable holidayin May 2005. All thanks to Chris and Ursula. We fondly remember the view and the sit out. We would look forward to having breakfast and sharing the days plan with Chris and Ursula. Our 11 yr old son would share his musical interest with Chris. Wouldn't dream of staying anywhere else in Interlaken.

The hotel and service exceeded our expectations. Our room was clean and comfortable, the shower hot with lots of water, and a great view of the mountains from the window. We were travelling with our teenage daughter, and were pleased to be accommodated with a spacious, three-bed room. Chris and Ursula could not have been more helpful in planning our days so that we made every minute count. Chris welcomed us each morning in the breakfast room with hot coffee, a continental breakfast, and friendly, informative conversation. Interlaken is a superb location to explore the Jungfrau region.
We would stay here again and again!

We have just returned from a great vacation in Switzerland. Our favorite location on our itinerary was by far Interlaken, and it was definitely thanks to Chris and Ursula at the Rugenpark B&B. They were so friendly and helpful upon our arrival and throughout our stay. Our room was very clean and cozy. Great duvet covers!!!! The breakfast was excellent. It was a short walk from the train station and very easy to find. I would stay here again.
Five Star **** Excellence in Customer Service

The Regenpark Hotel, under Ursula and Chris's leadership, is a wonderful place to stay and enjoy beautiful Interlaken and the surrounding areas.
Ursula and Chris are wonderful hosts and are very kind, are very responsive to individual guest needs and are also very thoughtful. They provide "top line" service and love what they do. They go out of their way to make their guests feel comfortable. Their assistant, Monty, is an excellent canine host. This team of three are excellent comfort specialists!
I returned home yesterday after an eleven night stay there. My room had a magnificient view of the Jungfrau and the nearby hills which was just beautiful. I also enjoyed the Swiss sun from the balcony of my room. This hotel is also in a convenient location to the Interlaken West train station, the supermaket and to nearby shopping in the Interlaken West area. I highly recommend this hotel for future long or short stay travelers to interlaken.
I had stayed in this hotel about five years ago and had also enjoyed my stay then. However, Ursula and Chris have taken the Rugenpark to new "heights" of excellence. I have no doubt that they will continue to do so.
Going the extra mile

On a recent tour of europe we visited switzerland and stayed at the RugenPark Hotel in Interlarken. we were greeting with the warmest of welcomes from owners Chris and Ursula.
Chris and Ursula soon proved to be the perfect hosts. Nothing was too much trouble. They had lots of information on things to do and places to go and even helpded with tickets etc.....
During our stay it was my husbands birthday, they put up banners with Happy Birthday on them outside our room.At breakfast he was present with a cake and candles and all the guest sang happy birthday it was wonderful.
The two of them obviously work very hard and its a refreshing change to be treated as individuals and not just a passing stranger, they are genuinley intrested in you and what you want and have done during your stay.
To top the whole thing off we were given and small bag of swiss chocolate on our departure. Its these extra little touches that make your holiday. The two of them certainly go the extra mile and We wish them every sucess and will certainly revisit in the future

I will be there in July. What is Interlaken town like? How much time should I spend there? I am thinking just 1 or 2 nights, then go to Gimmelwald for 1 or 2 nights also... Everyone talks about the excursions, but what is fun to do in town also?
Thanks!

Interlaken will be crowded. To me the parallel would be Banff, Alberta -- if you have ever been there. Interlaken has enough tourist shops, etc. to keep you busy for a whole day if the weather is bad, or in the evenings, etc. and there is a ritzy casino, but the sights there are only so-so, so if you want to hike or sightsee, move on to Gimmelwald or Grindlewald or Lauterbrunnen.

I stayed at Balmer's hostel, which has a great atmosphere and seems to be the central hangout/popular/backpacker place. With kitchen's to cook in as well. I rented a bike and biked around town, as well as to both of the lakes, bringing along a packed lunch! Check out my page on Interlaken! chesterridenour is my profile! and basically you'll have it!

Wonderful choice. I still dream of my time there. Spend the money and take the trip up the Jungfrau; go "canyoning" or even ski. After 20 years of hearing me talk about the place my daughter visited as an "after thought" a couple years ago and hasn't stopped talking about it since...it is a magical place. I lucked out and was there just after the Bond movie was filmed...some of the area was still decorated for the shootings.

Hi, I LOVE Interlaken. Lovely restaurants, walks and atmosphere. Go up the JungFrau for sure. Stop off at a resort on the way up there. Check out my Interlaken page if you like (altho it's still under construction).
