Can someone provide some directions train/bus from lucerne/interlaken to Jungfrau, Mt Rigi and Titlis.
any pointers appreciated.

From Luzern to Jungfrau - Take a train from Luzern to Interlaken. In Interlaken take another train to Lauterbrunnen. In Lauterbrunnen take the trains up to Jungfrau.

We went up to Jungfrau Sept this year. We were staying at Lauterbrunnen which is where the train starts for Jungfrau.
Take the train Lucerne to Interlaken, then change to train Interlaken to Lauterbrunnen, takes approx 15 minutes.
Jungfrau often has low cloud, check the weather forecast before you choose the day to visit.

Thanks a lot to all you guys for your wonderful tips and advice, had a great time. I visited Jungfraujoch, Titlis(though it was windy at -25 :)) and Rigi.

Travel Tips for Interlaken
White Water Rivers

Between Interlaken and Lauterbrunnen the train frequently followed the course of a river. The water in this river and others I saw in Stechelberg, was completely white. I found this amazing as I'd never seen white water before but then the term 'white water rafting 'sprang to mind. Is this true for all rivers in mountainous areas I wonder or is it peculiar to the Alpine regions?I've been in lots of other mountainous regions in different countries but never saw rivers with pure white water before. It looks really nice, if a little odd.

A cute cow with a bell... ;) I was determined to get at least one photo of one of these cows, they were just sooo cute... :)
I am still not sure why all the cows over there have bells though, I was told several stories but I'm not sure which to believe...
Shelter-huts against avalanches

At many places in the area around Interlaken you will see several such shelter-huts, where you may run to, in case that an avalanche is approaching. Mostly these huts are in the mountains, along the most popular hiking-paths or sometimes next to the bus-stations and they are a good place to stay in case of a short heavy rain, while you are hiking or cycling and are looking for a dry place to take a rest.
As you may see in my pictures, these places are not very clean - because sheep and cows gothere also sometimes...
A special place for James Bond-fans

This is the perfect place for all fans of James Bond : Don't miss the James-Bond decorations at the souvenir-shop on top of Schilthorn. These graffities are a bit hidden behind the small self-service-bar in the back of the souvenir-shop. Great memories of the movie "In her majesty's service" are coming back, when seeing these graffities. In that movie Piz Gloria is something like a beauty-farm, where the most beautiful girls were educated and got a fragrence as a souvenir at the end of their stay. That fragrance included a poison that would bring danger to the world... but of course James solves all of these problems.
This souvenir-shop is at the same level as the helicopter-platform, you cannot miss it !
Trotti-biking takes you back to childhood

This is a funny sport and you may do it close to Interlaken in Grindelwald and also in Meiringen, at Reichenbachfalls. A Trotti-Bike is a scooter-bike , not only for children, but also for grown-ups and you may rent them at Bort ( the middle-station of the First-cablecar in Grindelwald). Hundreds of Trottibikes are waiting there for customers and you may go downhill on one of the various asphalted streets with a total length of 4,5 km.
Trotti-bikes are available the whole summer-season ! No need to reserve them in advance, there are hundreds of them waiting at the station and will be taken up again by the cable-car again. The rent of 16 sfr / 11 Euros includes the rent of the compulsory helmet and you will also have to give a deposit of 100 sfr or register with your Creditcard / ID / Passport etc. !!
