Most restful place in the world
If you have a vehicle, don't stay anwhere else. The staff are helpful, and you are out of the town, and on the lakeside. Take an afternoon swim. Drink heaps of free coffee at breakfast, because it'll cost a fortune anywhere else in Switzerland.

hostel near the lake
In Interlaken, I again stayed at the HI Hostel. Actually, it was in Bönigen which is right next to Interlaken. This one was very nice. It was right next to the Lake of Brienz and was surrounded by the Alps...actually, the lake is right behind the hostel...just in case you feel like a swim after a day of mountain climbing. The staff was helpful, and the food was good. Stay here.
