We recommend Hotel Staubbach
by TripAdvisor Member Bob_in_Minneapolis
Had a great time here. We reserved a room on the side facing the waterfall, and had a fabulous view of it and of the snow-capped mountains. The people there advised us on a hike to take, and a restaurant, and we were very pleased with both. Comfortable, reasonable accomodations in a great town halfway between flatland Interlaken and the higher, more expensive resort areas.
Wonderful hotel

Hotel Staubbach is in the beautiful town of Lauterbrunnen which is probably the most beautiful place in the world that I have ever been. Doris as well as the other staff members were most helpful and friendly. The rooms are somewhat plain but very clean and cozy with a bed and breakfast style. There is a TV room and several other lounge type rooms to relax, check email, watch TV etc. The breakfast was very good. The hotel is located on the main street in Lauterbrunnen which is a very pretty quaint town. We enjoyed walking, hiking etc.. The friendly, helpful staff as well as the beautiful setting made this stop wonderful!

You can't really go wrong with staying anywhere in beautiful Lauterbrunnen, but staying at Hotel Staubbach was just the icing on the cake. We were greeted by the happy and smiley Doris who was so warm and welcoming, we felt instantly at home. The room was the most gorgeous room we had stayed in so far.. it was HUGE, and bright and had amazing views. Everything was extremely clean and warm. I would go back there again and again and again.
Simple and Neat ( friendly staff!!)

I stayed here along with my wife for two nights in April 2006.
We took a double bedroom- ensuite,
The balcony opened to spectacular views of waterfall and mountains---thats what i had really come down to switzerland for.
The bathroom is small (Don't expect those bath tubs).
The staff is very friendly and for that they score 5/5.
This lady,Doris, went to great details in helping us out with the itenary.
She even gave us her electric jug for our room ( though there was one for communal use in the pantry).
Simple things, but i got better service compared to those 4 star hotels i used for the rest of my trip.
Would suggest this to people who are on a budget and looking for family run accomodation.
Hotel with Best Alps views

I just came back from 3 nights' stay at this wonderful little hotel. I chose this hotel based on reviews here which are all very true. I stayed at their double + single + bathroom room facing the Staubbach Falls and a magnificent view of the valley. It was great being able to watch the waterfall while lying in bed! For the price, you cannot beat this hotel with their excellent location, great staff (Alex was great), and wonderful breakfast. They offer free parking and have a lift to make moving between floors easy. The bus stop is very close. My wife and 4 year-old son really loved this place. Highly recommended! (Pay the little extra to get the room with the view to the waterfall. You won't regret it!)
An old gem nicely modernized
by TripAdvisor Member 10issne1
The Staubbach is over a hundred years old, in a spectacular setting at the south end of town opposite the falls from which it took its name. The building has been extensively modernized just recently so it gives a double dose of the feel of old grand-tour travel while meeting current travelers' expectations. Even though the only room they had left when we reserved was a tiny double with bunk beds, we still loved the place! Filling breakfasts, very accommodating staff (as everyone else has already said), a nice TV room where we watched matches of this year's World Cup. And even daily newspapers in English for the reading!

Hello!
My husband and I are planning to stay at this hotel when we are in Lauterbrunnen. Does anybody have any experience with this hotel?
Thanks,
Lisa

Hi again Lisa, this was our 2nd choice in case the Hotel Oberland was booked. Haven't heard anything negative about this place and it looked fine from the outside when we were there. Sorry I can't be of more help with this one.

No problem! Thanks, anyway! All the reviews on Trip Advisor are really good, and Rick Steves recommends it. So, I think it is going to be a good place to stay.
