Great Value for money

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED- A MUST PLACE TO VISIT IN THIS REGION

Beds in the dorm are 16.50 Euro per night and includes linen.
A breakfast is 5 sfr and is ample to kick-start your day.
Downloading of your cameras' memory-card to a CD is 5 sfr and is an excellent service
This place is a family owned hostel, and is warm, clean and friendly.
Great place for backpackers to stay!

Facilities: Full kitchen facilities,
Multiple stoves so you won't need to wait too long for other backpackers to finish using it. Very clean bathrooms and Showers.
The room that I was in was a multi-bed dorm. It was clean and tidy
Fondues are available at this hostel if you want to sample swiss cuisine.

Unique Quality: The main feature that sets this Hostel apart and ranks it in the top 5% I have ever visited are the family that run it.

Martha and Alfred the owners, make you feel like a long lost relative and are very friendly and have time to talk and give advice anytime-they are special people !!

Stefan is their son along with his wife Franzi and two children.

Beware
-a Hostel rule is that you must wear sandals around the place-if you do not then Stafan is 'on your case' in a friendly way !!
I speak from experience!!

a cheap hostel at the station

Valley-Hostel has moderate prices and will certainly be the hostel, where I would stay, when-ever I do not travel by motorhome to Lauterbrunnen:
The single-room is just 30,- sfr (20 Euros), taxes and linen included. showers are outside of the rooms, but free of charge and they also offer public kitchen-facilities.
Beds in the dorm are 25 sfr ( 17 Euros)
Downloading of your memory-card to a CD is 8 sfr ( 5,50 Euros)
The internet-corner is open 09.00a.m. - 10.00p.m.
Internet is 5 sfr for 25 minutes
at most other places around Interlaken it is 5 sfr for 15 minutes !!

Unique Quality: Valley-Hostel is close to the train-station of Lauterbrunnen. On the main-road through the village you will see their laundromat and their Internet-cafe next to the few parking-lots they have along the main road. A few meters to the back you will see the hostel.

Valley Hostel--with a view

This place is a family owned hostel, and nice and cheerful Martha keep it warm, clean and friendly. Most important reason to live here: you have a magnificent waterfall view!

Service: Awesome, the husband and wife who runs the hostel are very willing to give travel tips and hiking suggestions. Great place for backpackers to stay!

Facilities: Full kitchen facilities, very very clean tap whether where you can drink right from it. Multiple stoves so you won't need to wait too long for other backpackers to finish using it. Very clean bathrooms.

The room that I was in was a 6-bed dorm. It was ok, although I had trouble falling asleep. Blankets were provided since the place is a bit chilly at night even in the heat of summer.

This place has a internet cafe outside, but internet is REALLY expensive there, 10CHF per hour.

Fondues are available at this hostel if you want to sample swiss cuisine. Lunch cost around 16CHF per person.

Unique Quality: Certain rooms has great views. Very cheap too, around 20CHF per person per night.

More about Valley Hostel

The Valley Hostel, a few steps...

by ucbwalker

The Valley Hostel, a few steps along the main road from the train station. Franzi, Martha and Alfred redefine hospitality; whenever a guest arrives, they line up and shake the guest's hand, introducing themselves along the way. Many hostels claim to have a 'family atmosphere'; this one actually knows what that means, and lives up to it. And be sure to sample their delicious cheese fondue.

I cannot say enough about the Valley Hostel in Lauterbrunnen. It is the nicest place I stayed for the entire 5 weeks I was over in Europe. Martha and the rest of her family are the kindest hostel people in the world! It was like being at home, and they had a rule where you had to take off your shoes before going past the reception into the hostel part of the chalet.
11USD a night, no b-fast. The great staff, good price, excellently equipped kitchen facilities, and great views of the valley walls, and on good days, the Jungfrau.

Ranger and Swiss33 beat me to it ---- Cheap and Switzerland are never used in the same sentence unless it is "Switzerland is NOT cheap!"

BTW Switzerland is worth every penny. I love the place and have been back three times.

Food is also expensive in Switzerland so a good way to save some money is to rent an apartment and fix a few of your won meals. Here is my tip on the apartment I rented for a week in Lauterbrunnen http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/85914/a8caa/3/
I think they also rent by the day.
Here is a link to the whole area with lots of info on accommodation. I highly recommend Lauterbrunnen over Interlaken. You will have a true Swiss village experience in Lauterbrunnen.

Here is a link to Valley Hostel in Lauterbrunnen. I did not stay there but it looked like a nice place (I used their laundry and Internet facilities). I did hear nice things about it from others staying there.

I am from Poland and believe me I am lacking money a lot. In July I spent 1 day in Interlaken. I recommend the place where I stayed overnight and they let me (for free) to leave the car for 5 days.
