Hotel Krone

by b1bob about Hotel Krone

Different from the previous year's accommodations, the Hotel Krone is far out of the centre of Lucerne. That made it impossible to return in the middle of the day when I got tired of walking around. However, the scenery was better. You could even smell the countryside and the covers were padded with down.

Hotel Krone

by b1bob about Hotel Krone

Hotel Krone is a nice little inn 30 miles outside downtown Lucerne, Switzerland in Giswil. Because we were fairly high up in the mountains, there were down comforters on the beds even in late June. It was a nice, cozy hotel with decent food, clean rooms, and friendly service.

Hotel Krone in Murten/Morat...

by Jeannette1

Hotel Krone in Murten/Morat is where we stayed and I would highly recommend it. This is a pic of the street viewed from the hotel room.
Murten or Morat in French is a small town of 4,600 people. You can take a nice walk on top of the medieval ramparts. Murten is a bi-lingual city where 25% of the population speaks French.

Mini golf

by b1bob

In the back of the Hotel Krone, right outside the window of my room, was a mini golf course. The only thing is, most other mini golf courses I have seen put artificial turf to make it look like a golf course.

Geneva City tour with Mont Blanc, Rhine Falls - Zurich

by SamirGarg

We are a family of 9 with 4 children travelling from India to Switzerland.
On 21st May Afternoon, we want to do a Geneva City tour with Mont Blanc. Kindly let us know the most convenient mode of covering these places. Should we take a tour to cover these?
We are staying in Niederried Apartments in Interlaken & already visiting Mount Titlis & Jungfrau. What other places should we cover (not peaks) as we are there for 6 days?
On 27th May, we will be moving to Zurich & would like to see the Rhine Falls & other interesting places. How should we go about this from our Hotel Krone?

Thanks in advance & have a nice day.

Travel Tips for Lucerne

The Swiss people living here...

by Krystynn

The Swiss people living here in Lucerne are really friendly and VERY polite; so please be sure to greet them with a warm 'Hello', 'Goodbye', 'Please' and 'Thank you' in either German, French, Italian or English (yes, they are multi-lingual!) whilst entering and leaving the shop premises. We certainly don't want these lovely Swiss folks to think that we tourists are a barbaric bunch, yes?

For the absolutely curious amongst us, 70% of Swiss people speak German as their first language; 18% French, 11% Italian and 1% Romansch. English is understood and spoken (to a certain degree) in most places where you'd find tourists. However, in smaller towns or shops off the beaten path, English is hardly spoken. So, in order to BLEND in with the Swiss, speak GERMAN!!! I'm sure your attempt to speak broken German will be greatly appreciated by them. I tried and it did work... even though I have NO CLUE what I was talking or speaking about. Duh!!

Oh, and in case you haven't already figured out, ALL THINGS Swiss are SUPER-CLEAN (not even a speck of dirt anywhere!), SUPER-EFFICIENT, SUPER-ORDERLY and yes, MEGA-EXPENSIVE!! :-) Have a great trip!
