The Hotel De La Paix is well situated in Zuzern. It is only a few minutes walking distance to the Lion Monument and the city walls. Just a few minutes more leads to the bridges and the heart of town. The room was large and clean. When we checked in, I did not request any room in particular. I was told that a room would be available in 10 minutes and was glad to have waited. There was a corner balcony that had very nice views of the surrounding area. This leads me to believe that the staff will try to be as accomodating as possible. The restaurant is also nice, as we ate a meal there. I can easily recommend this hotel to anyone wishing to stay in Luzern and have an easy time getting to all of the sites.
The balcony view was very nice. It was not loud at night either.
I spent 30 min. trying to find the hotel with the directions I had. I arrived and got checked into my single room #113 and was surprised to find myself on the corner of the hotel next to the Swiss flag with a balcony outside my large windows. The rooms are well appointed with a writing table, chair, alarm clock, cable tv and a spacious and comfortable bed. The lighting is nice and the en suite bathroom is good sized with strong water pressure. There is a free internet terminal in the lobby next to the elevator for the guests' use and the restaurant is popular with the locals at dinner and offers a good selection for the breakfast buffett. There is a pool for the guests to use in an adjacent building. Just ask the clerk about its availability. The pool is open until 9pm. The location of the hotel is outstanding. Only about 5-7 min. walk from the train station, near the lake and near the Dying Lion and there is a shopping center with a grocery store close to the hotel.
elevator, restaurant, near grocery store/shopping center, near Dying Lion, free internet, friendly staff
Directions: Walk out of the train station and across the river bridge towards the cathedral. Turn LEFT 2 streets before the cathedral and the hotel is 2 streets down on the left corner. Look for multiple flags flying above the street.
