Budget Accommodation Lucerne
My husband and I are looking for good budget accommodation in Lucerne for 1 night - preferably double room (private bathroom optional), clean, well located to tourist sites. Any advice appreciated.

We once stayed for one night in the Hotel Goldener Stern on our way through to Italy. Friendly hotel, clean and right in the centre. It was six years ago - but was excellent value for money then. Chris.

Hi we are travelling to Switzerland in Aug '06. We have booked a hotel in Lucerne & Interlaken for 2 days each.

Can any one tell me how the above hotels are ?
Recently we had been to France & stayed in a hotel in Center of the Paris city. But had very bad experience with the stay. The photos of the hotel rooms they showed in the website was very good. but we got very bad rooms . So little worried about Switzerland too.
Did any body stayed in the above mentioned places? if so please give me your feed back.

I am also doing research on hotel rooms in Zurich. I read that the Goldner Stern is the only gay & lesbian hotel in Zurich. If you have a problem with gay people, it may not be a good place for you. Also, there is apparently a disco immediately adjacent to the hotel that is noisy (loud music, people on the street outside). This is only what I have read. I have no first-hand knowledge of this. www.venere.com and www.tripadvisor.com have reviews about
hotels from former guests that you can read.
