See the Lion Monument. It's breathtaking!! The monument is located in a small but very nice park. It's quiet there and you just sit and stare at the huge Lion. You cannot even put the beauty into words. The cows are sooooo cute in Switzerland. We were able to get quite close when we went up to the Towers in Lucerne.

be real predictable and take a photo of yourself standing in front of the Löwendenkmal or in English, the Lion Monument. Let me now share a little about this famous monument known simply as Löwendenkmal.
I'm sure you've heard about the Swiss Government's longstanding tradition of supplying mercenaries to foreign countries, right? The Swiss have ALWAYS been politically neutral for centuries and have also enjoyed an untarnished reputation for honoring their agreements. I mean, even the Pope or the Emperor (at that time) could place his absolute trust on his Swiss Guards and their loyalty even when it was politically difficult to do so!! However, the Swiss Guards' honor was really being put to the test during the French Revolution (in 1792). In order to escape the Revolution, King Louis XVI, Marie-Antoinette and their family were unceremoniously hauled back to the Tuileries Palace in Paris. A mob of working-class Parisians then stormed the Palace in search of aristocratic blood. More than 700 of these Swiss soldiers died whilst defending the Palace, without even realizing that their Royal Bourbon employers had already fled the building much, much earlier!!! A case of miscommunication perhaps? No, I think the Bourbon King really didn't care about anyone else except for himself and his family!
So, the Lion Monument is done in honor of those heroic Swiss Guards of King Louis XVI who died - a symbol the German-speaking Swiss here in Lucerne are proud to acquaint with.

See Lucerne in the daytime;-) Lucerne , with a diminutive population 60,000 is located on a lake of the same name and has a feel about it that belies its small size. Kappellebrucke (Chaple Bridge) you see here is a covered footbridge built in 1333 originally for defense purposes but now houses a watertower and is a consummate Swiss tourist site with over 100 pictures by Heinrich Wagmann showing the life and costumes of ancient Lucerne and a most relaxing view of the lake as well.
Folk Show and Dinner
by keeweechic
If you are on a tour you will inevitably do the 'folk show and dinner'... This actually ended up being a lot of fun. Dinner was served with everyone sitting at long bench tables with huge steins of local beer to try. It got noisy but no one really cared by the end of the night.
