Be Careful
We booked this hotel online and maybe that was a mistake. When we arrived to check in and gave our names and confirmation information, they told us the reservation was for two people. There was four in our party and the printed reservation I took with proved my point. They looked at us like we were crazy and simply making it up. Needless to say, they reluctantly provided us a room.
Unique Quality: For the price, there's nothing really unique about this hotel.

The worst hotel in Switzerland we stayed at
Avoid this hotel if you don't want to spoil your trip to Luzern.
There are only 2 good things about it: convenient location and nice exterior look.
Otherwise: small rooms with stuffy air, useless receptionists and poor breakfast.
It was also a big issue to find a parking. Hotel is surrounded by "blue", "yellow" and "white" parking zones, however it is difficult to find a vacant one at any time.

Nice centrally located hotel
We stayed only for one night in Luzern, the hotel was quite ok with clean rooms - centrally located near the hauptbahnoff & kunst museum and the breakfast was good enough.

Convenient, clean, and stylish Hotel
My husband and I stayed at the Waldstaetterhof Hotel in Luzern for three nights in September 2004 and was very satisfied. Just across the street from the Bahnhof (railroad station), so this was very convenient as we traveled by train around Switzerland, and also very convenient to the old part of town, river (and lake), restaurants, everything.
We had reserved a "smaller" non-smoking double "designer" room (more modern, but at same rates as traditional). When we checked in they automatically upgraded us to a "bigger" designer room. We didn't even ask for this! The room was lovely, beautiful hardwood floors, king-sized bed with matching art work, curtains, bedspread, lush colors, and was spacius! (This was amazing to us as we had come from hotels in Lausanne and Chamonix that were little boxes.)
Breakfast is included in rate and was a fine spread: hot and cold food.
Everyone was pleasant and place was immaculate.
Cost us approixmately $150.00 U.S. per night for a double with taxes, service, breakfast, VAT included in rate.
Highly recommended.

Awesome Old Hotel
This was an incredibley cool hotel! It was very old inside, with beautiful rooms! The ceilings were all high and panelled with carved wood, like staying in a palace! It was really really cool, because we also had an excellent view of the town. Also has a nice, affordable restaurant. Has some of the smallest elevators I have ever seen!

one and a half day trip
Hi ALL VT,
i will be travelling to Luzern with my friend on 22nd September, we will be reaching there around noon time. We are going to stay in Hotel Waldstaetterhof ...has anyone of you stayed before? any reviews?
We will like to visit Mt. Titlis during our trip to Luzern, may i know is there any package tour available, the details and price? or if we go by ourselves up to Mt. Titlis, could anyone tell us the procedures?

Re: one and a half day trip
To go up to mount Titlis you just go yourself.
Just go to the Luzern railwaystation, and buy a ticket for mount Titlis. Than take the train to Engelberg, they go at least once an hour. In Engelberg its just a short walk to the cable car.
