Swiss Flag - Simple Red Flag with White Cross
by ATXtraveler
During our time at Rhine Falls and Schaffhausen, we noticed many Swiss flags, which have a very simple design. The red flag and white cross are very easily spotted on many buildings and houses.
The flag is actually one of the two soverign nation flags which are square. If you would like to hazard a guess at the other, please leave a comment on this page. Correct answers will be replied to... and others may try as many times as they like.

Just walk trought the town, discover every corner, meet new people and catch the spirit of these beautyfull place, I hope to be there again soon. My friends in Mexico love this picture, i told them about the beautyfull work of fine painting in each house. I found houses made about 14th century and older. This building has a solar clock in his wall.
Packing List
by Krystynn
If this is a day trip you're taking from say, Zurich, then you won't need to worry about packing or your luggage....
If you're intending to stay at this town for a few days or even, overnight, then don't forget to pack adequately i.e. DO plan your wardrobe in such a way that you'll have no problem mixing and matching your outfits and it should bring you from day to night. DON'T forget to transfer all your toner, cleanser, night cream et al into small plastic containers. For non-photographic buffs like myself, I would recommend a state-of-the-art 'point and shoot' camera... Yeah, like even a dummy would- know-how-to-use-it kind of camera. Films are VERY expensive here in Switzerland (oh yes!), so bring enough films with you.... DON'T forget to bring along your much-treasured ATM card and.... an open mind.
Remember, if your ATM card is linked to the international networks of 'Cirrus', 'Plus', 'The Exchange' etc, you can withdraw money from any ATM machines in the world!! Really. And what's more, you'd even benefit from the low interbank exchange rates being given to you vis-a-vis the rates your local money-changer charges. I have survived on this method for ALL my trips abroad and so far, no ATM machines in this world have failed me. Yet. If you haven't tried using this method i.e. use your ATM card instead of traveler's checks OR changing your money into Swiss Francs BEFORE your trip, I challenge you to do so today! And be pleasantly surprised at how much you can save at the end of the day using this method.
Good luck!

Der Rhienfall / The Rhine...

Der Rhienfall / The Rhine Falls
The Rhine Falls is a beautiful location tucked in the northwest of Switzerland. Boasting to be the largest falls in Europe, you can take a boat trip to the big rock at the center of the falls, where the noise must be deafening. People actually stay on this precarious looking feature for around twenty minutes! Overall, you can spend two to three hours here and it is certainly worth a visit.
Schloss Laufen
by ATXtraveler
If you are taking a trip to Rhine Falls, you will notice a large building above the falls. This is Schloss Laufen (Laufen Castle). It is reachable by car off the N4, or by footbridge after a short walk from the falls.
Sarah and I did not continue the hike from the falls up to the castle, as she is pregnant and it had enough steps to keeps us from it, but its beautiful view was noticeable by the multiple people waving from up there down to people at the falls!
