    I found this hotel through the website www.hrs.de ("hrs" meaning Hotel Reservation Service).

    It is quite close to the main railway station, and is reasonably priced. I paid 110 Swiss Francs for a single room with breakfast, which is EUR 70.67 or $85.64 (that's American dollars, not Australian).

    The rooms are air conditioned, which I suppose is a good feature if you happen to be in Zürich on one of the few hot days of the year.

    They have "Pay TV" that you don't have to pay for. This is quite unusual, but I can't imagine just sitting around in a hotel room and watching television, when so much else is going on in Zürich.

    To sum up: If you've seen one hotel, you've seen them all.
    (My motto, not theirs.)

    On a business trip to Zurich in 2005 I stayed for two nights in the "Ibis Zurich City-West". The Ibis Hotel is as comfortable and impersonal as every Ibis hotel around the world.

    The room prices vary from 100 to 160 CHF (2005). Special weekend rates are available. The buffet style breakfast is not included in the price.

  • Directions: The "Ibis Zurich City-West" is situated together with the Novotel and the ETAP hotel in the Technopark of Zuerich. The Technopark has excellent public transportation connections to the city centre, which is less than 10 minutes away.

    We were very pleased with our stay here. The staff is extremely courteous and helpful. The hotel is rather new, and felt it. Everything was clean and streamlined. I was afraid that being so close to the train station and airport that our walls would rattle all night long. We never heard a thing! Very soundproof.

    The train station is about 50 steps from the front door! Can't beat that. The station is underground, so you don't hear any train noises in your room. It is a 15 minute ride to the main train station in Zuerich. Free hotel shuttle takes you to and from the airport. It takes about 10 minutes.

    It was a great feeling when in the morning I woke to see this view through my window..I have not seen so much whitness in a while.

    It is good to know that the famous Jakobshorn and the Schatzalp cable stations is within a few minutes stroll from here.

    This is a four stars hotel located in a perfect settings within its own private park, yet still very close to the centre of the town and also to the Sunstar Family hotel. These are three stars.

    This is the entrance and the reception lobby of the hotel, we arrived the hotel at a very odd hour, about one in the morning....but because of the World Economic Forum that was ongoing at this time, the staff were all at their desks.

    The**** Turmvictoria hotel Davos is the new 4-star hotel situated in a central and suny location. Only this time, there was little sun, but snow. The unique tower has become an often photographed land mark.

    There are various gift items arranged in your room as you entered. This particulat gift is a most beautiful Russian Winter cap I have ever seen. Inscribed on it is "Davos 2005..Russian Night".. other gift items include the chicest Swiss Chocolate boxes, Unbrellas..etc, etc.

    One of the attractions at the reception is this huge victorian art work..It is suitably situated at the sitting area, with a gentle water fountain. Given an experience of ultimate vacation experience.

    We had a twin room which is apparently slightly larger then a double.

    The shower was very powerful which I believe is sometimes hard to find in Swiss hotels.

    The staff were very friendly & gave us advice on where to eat, places to boogie at night time & marked on our map how to get places.
    We found them very chatty listening to all our adventures that day.

    The breakfast was more then adequate with cereal, youghurt, fruit, breads/toast & rolls with homemade jam, also a boiled egg, gerkins & olives. If you were still hungry you could purchase a omlette or bacon & eggs.

    We got a deal through my friend of £231 for 4 nights but the original price through www.octopustravel.com was £300 for the total stay for the room

    The room was very clean and tidy . They also offer internet access. We used their fridge to keep cheese & ham we purchased for lunch cool.
