Hotel is located just 5 mins walk way to the Zurich main train station. The area is safe, even u can walk at night to reach other parts of Zurich for nightlife ....
Rooms r kindda small, but very clean and well furnished, bathroom is tiny but very modern ... I did love the interior of the hotel in general, elevators, lobby etc, as said due to my own opinion, this hotel deserves to have a 4 star instead of 3, compared to other hotels I've stayed in other countries ... :))
Breakfast is very well sorted, nice coffee, cheese, fruits and many more ....
U can also use train station to reach the airport for ur next flight in order to save the high fee of taking a cab .... Quite nice and very recommendable Hotel ....

Couple block from train station and red light.
Picked place as it was the cheapest though still cost 155 dollars though have seen same hotel cost over 200. Rooms were small but functional. Breakfast was better than expected and included the normal hotel staples of lots of bread and some hard boiled eggs though also some nice bacon and sausages. Many of the other hotels in area are much more expensive as the Marriott was over 420 for the night. Perfectly fine if you are like me and just spending the night.
Unique Quality: Within couple blocks of train station and think hotel had some parking places also.
Opinion of Price: less expensive than average

Decent place to stay
We didn't book a room, were able to check in the night we arrived. The room was pretty nice, and the price was about average (by the high Swiss standards). Nice bathroom, and a comfortable double bed, which is about all you can ask for.
It isn't particularly near the part of town with a lot of nightlife. The area was pretty quiet, but it would have been nicer to stay somewhere closer to more restaurants, bars, and such.

Decent hotel near the station
We only had one night to spend in Zurich, and wanted somewhere convenient for travelling. The Hotel Montana is about 3 minutes walk from the station, and although the area around it feels slightly sleazy (or as sleazy as it gets in Switzerland), it's modern, clean and comfortable, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Don't know how it compares on price - probably on the pricey side as it's 4 star!
Unique Quality: Nice glass elevator in the lobby, restaurant looks good too, but we had no time to eat there. Very convenient also for a branch of Europcar, just round the corner.
Our stay at the Hotel Montana was nothing short of wonderful. The staff was always very helpful and went out of there way on several occassions to accomodate us with information and extras to ensure our stay there was satisfactory to say the least. The views were not good in our particular room, but that was ok. Our main concern was convenience to our public tranportation outlets and we had that for sure. One block from the Zurich HB Main Train Station and the same from the # 4 & 15 Bus Stop. With that type of easy access, getting to the views we wanted was quick and easy.

Read good reviews about this hotel on Trip Advisor. The only comment was that the area around the hotel was a little suspect.....my question would be...being a women alone.....can I walk to and from the hotel to the train station/shopping/tour areas safely both in the day and at night?

I have never felt uncomfortable in switzerland with saftey concerns. A few caveats however. I am male. I am over 200lbs and 6'5" tall. I mostly stay in Lausanne versus zurich. That being said I would still think that you'd be rather safe in the city center areas. Use some common sense and don't walk down dark alleyways or seldom used roads. Keep a lookout for suspicious activities and if you feel uncomfortable in any way change your route and get out of the area. There are plenty of trolleys and buses and chances are you can find one that will get you in close proximity of the hotel. Enjoy your trip. Switzerland is a visually stunning country.

Hi!You are right,this hotel has good reviews and the location is perfect.Zürich is safe city but i still advise you not to stay til late walking,because there are some "strange people" on that area.But generally speaking,Hotel Montana is a perfect especially for city lovers because its in the heart of Zürich.

I did chose this hotel for its convenience, and will take the usual precautions, but at the same time...enjoy myself.
