6 hours in zurich

by grosmas

Hi, i have 6 hours in zurich on Monday march 22 from 4pm until 10.45pm. is there anything i can do for part of the 6 hours? and what time does the shops close?

could i see any of the city in that time

The city is very compact. From the main railway station you can do a circle walk taking in all the main sights and shops which close mostly at 8 pm. In the big hall of the main railway station (Hauptbahnhof) you will find the tourist office where you can grab a map.

Happy exploring!

At that of year there will be only a couple of hours of daylight but I agree that Zurich is a very compact and walkable city so just try to see as much of the old town as you can in the time available. BTW Zurich Hauptbahnhof is large and offers lots in the way of eating, shopping so you can waste a couple of hours there if the weather is inclement etc. There are luggage lockers at the station.

Hi,
be careful!
If you arrive by air, it may take 15-30 minutes to find and get to any lugagge-locker and to walk down to the lowest basement, where the ticket counters/machines are and the trains to Zuerich's main station depart. The ride will set you back for another 15-20 minutes.Nevertheless, you should have enough time to walk down the famous "Bahnhofstrasse" for window-shopping and to see some of Zuerich's old town along the river Limmat.

Visit Niederdorf - lots of unsual shops and great places to eat & drink Autumn - warm roasted chesnuts to keep your hands warm in the cold air. Christmas - so much more magical in winter (I'm from the southern hemisphere & Christmas has not been the same for me since experiencing it in winter).

Lake Zurich

by Toyin

This is another view of Lake Zurich. It is one of the main attractions here. It supplies the needed water requirement of this region and commercial purpose. Most importantly, it added to beauty of this region. As you could see in the pics, it is fassionable to have your house at the edge of the Lake.

Flags

by matcrazy1

.
You can find many streets and houses decorated with various flags. Most of them are Swiss flags with white cross on red. But some are unknown for me - local communities flags? Or old knight's flags?

Hallenbad City

This centrally located indoor pool run by the city features a 50 m pool as well as a non-swimming pool. They also run a variety of courses like Aqua Fit. They also have sauna and solarium, restaurant, boutique etc.

The pool is open every day from 7am till 9 or 10 pm. On Thursdays from 4-6 pm it's for females only.

FIFA. I don´t know if you´ll find it as an atractive walk, but I enjoyed it.
You can get there easily by tramway or walking from the tourists hostels zone. I think it isn´t open to the public but, anyway, you can view the city from it´s high location. (Very nice view)
