Dolder Grand Hotel boasts 173 luxurious rooms,fine dining and spa.I personally haven't stayed here but I visited this hotel before it was renovated and I was really impressed.So after the renovation which cost over 400 mio.,this hotel is the most luxurious and most expensive hotel in Zürich.

This is one of the most beautiful hotels I have ever stayed in. You take a funicular tram up the mountain to reach the hotel. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. After registering they personally escort you to your room. The room was very large and had a very large balcony with a fantastic view of the mountains and lake, truly memorable ! The breakfast in the restaurant was excellent. Nothing could have made my stay more enjoyable.
Unique Quality: Very spectacular location. Elegant rooms.

That's my kind of place! After quite busy two days in Zurich, meeting lots of (great) people I needed a break. No better place than the lobby bar of the Dolder Grand Hotel for that. Typical Grand Hotel ambience, quiet, elegant, perfect service. I had hot chocolate (to die for) and a praliné (died and gone to heaven). Anytime again! And not more expensive than the Café Felix down in the city.
Finally there is the Dolderbahn funicular, a very pleasant mode of transportation from the city up to the mid-range mountains north of Zürich. Again, it is included in the ZVV tickets. This funicular takes you up to the famous Dolder Grand Hotel (recently renovated, see my restaurant tip) and close to the public ice-rink. Hiking trails start near the top station and you can enjoy nice views over Zürich, the lake and the mountains.
Thanks to german_eagle we entered The Dolder Grand Hotel which is a 5 star hotel and belongs to the leading hotels of the world. We had tea and chocolates at the lobby bar on a winter day. As you enter the hotel the lobby bar is down the corridor to your right. The toilets are downstairs from the lobby.
The lobby bar is a very relaxed place with attentive service. The seating is very comfortable and the decoration is lovely. Please also look up at the ceiling. But what I liked best was the tea cup china. It was absolutely gorgeous.
