The city is built on the banks at the end of the Lake Zürich and along the River Limmat, its outlet, and climbs the lower heights on both sides of the river. It is divided into the Old Town and the New Town.
For me Zürich looks like a small city not the biggest one in Switzerland. Banks? Are there any there? Probably there are but where? Haha.
Limmat River
by Fam_Stoica
Zurich is situated on both shores of the Limmat River, which flows from the northern end of Lake Zurich.
The Sihl River, a tributary of the Limmat, also flows through the city, and quays line the riverbanks and the lake.
Raclette
by Peret
I advice you if you go to Zürich, taste the raclette. This is a dish, with smelted cheese. You put the cheese in a kind of spoon, over a fire. When the cheese become smelted, you can take it with bread, with a frankfurt. You'll enjoy this meal.
This photo serves moreover for an exemple of the language question of Switzerland. This is too long for this tip. Only comment that this day in this table we spoke: german, english, catalan, italian, spanish and french. Finally, i became a little bit crazy.
In Your Pocket Guide - Zurich
by HORSCHECK
I must admit that I am a huge fan of the "In Your Pocket" guides and I was more than happy to hear that since October 2010 they are now also available for Zurich. The Zurich guide will be published every two month.
It not only provides helpful information about transport, accomodation and sights, but also many off the beaten path tips and background information. Apart from that the guide is usually entertaining to read.
The printed version of the "In Your Pocket - Zurich" guide is available free of charge in most hotels, but also at the Service Centre in the airport as well as in the ZVV ticket booths.
A PDF version can be downloaded from the "In Your Pocket" website.

Jungfraujoch daytrip (24 Oct 2004)

See my Lauterbrunnen travelogues for photos of this Jungfraujoch daytrip:

We booked a daytrip to Jungfraujoch from the Tourist Office in the Zurich main train station. Departs in the morning and back to Zurich before 9pm. The cost is CHF195. Lunch not provided. Expensive but worth every cent of it. A coach departs from the bus terminal behind the train station. After a short stop at Interlaken, we then proceed to Lauterbrunnen, where we changed onto a cogwheel train up to the top. The view at the top (3571m) was spectacular.
