Getting down town from Airport

by matthewsr

When we arrive in Zurich I would like to travel from the airport to downtown but I would like to take the tram. Is it possible to get near the central train station, it would be close to our hotel. Like the tram because I think we may see more.
thanks

The tram from the airport (line 10) also passes by the main railway station.
However, I would in your case go to the hotel first, and explore afterwards.
The price for a public transport trip from the airport to the city is the same regardless of the mode you use. The train is a lot faster however, and there is more place for luggage. The tram isn't really intented for passengers, but is more geared towards people working at or near the airport. Day cards for public transport in Zürich are good value. In your case just get a day card at the airport, go to the hotel first, and then explore the city. The part between the airport and the city isn't that interesting anyway.

Travel Tips for Zürich

Little Big City

by tini58de

We strolled around the narrow streets of Zürich for hours, visited the impressive churches from the inside and the outside, and enjoyed a nice walk along Lake Zürich.

I never expected Zürich to be such a pleasant city - so this really was a nice surprise for me!
. Meeting Elisabeth (rebibi), Remo and Sonja (yumyum)!

Tunnels

by Toyin

The trip from Zurich and Davos will take tourist through several tunnels. This is because the journey is trough a predominantly mountaineous region. It is very interestind and I took several pictures such as the one that could be seen in this picture, given a very unique view. What is unique is the outcome of the pictures which is taken when you are almost comming out of the tunnel.

No work Sundays

by penpoison

There is a city ordinance that says that one cannot work on Sundays. This includes taking out the garbage or cleaning your car. Anything that can be construed as being work can be reported to the authorities as well as your workplace!

Packing List

by cosmopolit

according to seasons in northern hemisphere, it's always handy to bring some raingear though you could, of course, obtain it here if need should arise. Cheap pocketsize umbrellas at department stores come for about 10 Euro. Everything available. tons of opportunities for grrreat pics abound.

Limmat river, St Peter's church, Rathaus.

by dabidc

The aerial view is taken from the top of one of the twin Towers on the Grossmuenster. It is Off The Beaten Path, simply because not all visitors climb the 186 steps to the view point, a great value for 2 SF.

Included in the view is one of the old Guild houses at 6 Munsterhoff.

A pleasure boat is also seen on the river. They are very flat looking, since there is little clearance under those bridges.
