Hotel Arlette Beim Hauptbahnhof

Zurich is not a cheap place to visit and I found accommodation prices expensive. On our one night stay in the city we opted to stay at the Arlette beim Hauptbahnhof because it was cheaper than average and just a short walk from the main train station.

We stayed in 5 different hotels on our 7 night trip to Switzerland and this was my least favourite hotel. There wasn't anything major wrong with it, the décor was just a bit dated and our air conditioning was broken. My main complaint however was the constant sound of running water from the pipes in the bathroom. The pipes had towels wrapped around them to try and muffle the sound and to soak up the moisture from the pipes (the towels were damp to touch).

Unique Quality: That said, there was a wall mounted TV, a mini bar, and the inclusive breakfast was basic but fresh. I probably wouldn't stay at the Arlette beim Hauptbahnhof again, though it was in a convenient location and seemed to be good value for Zurich.

We paid CHF 175 for a double room and CHF 135 for a single (July 2008)
