Nice Hotel Near the Train Station
Hotel Bristol is a comfortable, business-class hotel not far from the train station. The rooms vary in size and shape but are of good size for the most part, with all of the amenities you would expect. It is a good choice for a final night in Switzerland if you are departing Zürich Airport on a morning flight. While Hotel Bristol is certainly not cheap (CHF 165-220 for a double), it is definitely cheaper than the airport hotel. The hotel offers shuttle service to and from the airport (6:30-22:00, cost CHF 30 for two people), though I recommend you take the 5-minute walk to the train station and take advantage of the frequent train service from Zürich Hauptbahnhof to the airport (every 10 minutes or so, fare approximately CHF 6 one-way) unless you're packing heavy.
Continental breakfast buffet is included in the room price; American-style breakfast available for a surcharge. I would think the free breakfast would suffice for most.
WARNING: If you do a web search for "Hotel Bristol Zürich," you may be directed to a "pharming" website. Check the web address carefully: if the website's domain is ".it" instead of ".ch," it could be a fraud!

Great Location / Friendly Staff
We stayed for 2 nights in December 07.
Just a few minutes from the main train station and the main shopping areas.
Nice clean rooms not too large but typical of European hotels.
Recommend this hotel.
Unique Quality: Helpful staff and Internet access plus a very decent breakfast! What else do you need!!

Breakfast is free to all it's guest,
and we found it more than enough
to start the day off .....
Unique Quality: Quality food, and it was replenished about every five minutes,
so the food was fresh for the duration of breakfast.

Great Hotel
Great Hotel - Great Price
We stayed here for a week, and we
enjoyed every day of it.
The help was very friendly, and it
seemed they could not do enough
to make our stay pleasant.
They spoke excellent English, and
they also had an excellent breakfast
that was put out for the guests each
morning ....
Located right on the edge of the Old Town,
we recommend this hotel highly ....

Great hotel
I have stayed 4 nights at Hotel Bristol and was satisfied with the price and amenities. The Hotel room was very clean but small. If you are only staying for a couple of days, it will be fine. The location is excellent. You can walk everywhere in the city from there. The popular Bahnhofsstrasse and Old Town are easy to walk to within 5-10min. I payed $100 per night which is ok for an expensive city like Zürich. A huge plus is the friendly staff. Everyone at the hotel was extremely helpful and very nice. The ladies at the reception gave me a couple of tips where to go out for dinner and shopping. The breakfast selection was fine with me. I am not a big eater in the morning anyway. They had rolls, croissants, boiled eggs, cereal, yogurt and fruit with coffee and orange juice. I think you had to pay extra for cheese and sausages but I wasn't too hungry. The breakfast room is now on the first floor after their construction. You can also access the internet either in your room (15 SF per day) or downstairs in the lobby with one of their computers (5SF per 30 min) I don't know if an internet cafe would be cheaper but I only had to check my email twice.
Overall, it was a good experience.

Good Location
We stayed here the night we arrived in Switzerland and again the night before flying out. It is not too expensive in Swiss standards and is an easy walk from the main train station. The rooms are clean and comfortable. There is one outlet in the bathroom that does not require an electrical adapter.
Unique Quality: Location is good, because you can walk to all of the main sites in the old city without too much trouble. There are plenty of restaurants in the area, and also all of the facilities of the train station are just a few minutes away.

Basic and self sufficient
Hotel Bistol is located about 10 minutes away from Zurich main train station. The room is pretty small and clean. It sort of reminded me of the dorms in the university except that this has an attached bathroom.
Breakfast is served in a room just beside the reception. Not a huge breakfast spread but then again I got pretty full after a while.
It's about 150 CHF per night incl breakfast.

Fantastic location, friendly staff
We had a twin room which is apparently slightly larger then a double.
The shower was very powerful which I believe is sometimes hard to find in Swiss hotels.
The staff were very friendly & gave us advice on where to eat, places to boogie at night time & marked on our map how to get places.
We found them very chatty listening to all our adventures that day.
The breakfast was more then adequate with cereal, youghurt, fruit, breads/toast & rolls with homemade jam, also a boiled egg, gerkins & olives. If you were still hungry you could purchase a omlette or bacon & eggs.
We got a deal through my friend of £231 for 4 nights but the original price through www.octopustravel.com was £300 for the total stay for the room
The room was very clean and tidy . They also offer internet access. We used their fridge to keep cheese & ham we purchased for lunch cool.

Good hotel
We stayed 4 nights at the Hotel Bristol. We had a great deal of stay one night get on free (check out www.zuerich.com) for deals. The hotel was by no means a luxury hotel but was clean the staff friendly and helpful with travel questions. We stayed in a quad room with 2 young children and though it was tight, we still had plenty of space. You cannot beat the location as it is a 2 min walk to the tram stop and a 5 min walk to the main train station. The breakfast that was included was more than adequate. Overall I would have no problem recommending this hotel to anyone.

Greetings From The USA
We will be travelling to Zurich this fall/winter
and have found what seems to be a good hotel that
is centerally loacated to alot.

As with in all the old cities, we desire to stay
in the "Old Town" sections of the city. Is that
Hotel in such an area ?
We will be making some day trips to:
Zug
Baden
Winterthur
Lucerne
We also are interested in meeting up with
fellow VTers' while we are there in Zurich.
Please e-mail us if you are interested in
meeting up.
If you live in the area of one of our day

We stayed at Hotel Bristol in 2005. It was quiet and comfortable and the price was reasonable for a Zurich hotel. I wouldn't say it's in the "Old Town," though it's on a quiet street and about a 20 minute walk from the "quaint" section of town closest to Lake Zurich. It's also a convenient 10-minute walk from the train station, ideal for those who are planning day-trips by train (or, in our case, a morning trip to the Airport).

It's not in Old town but not too far away. VTer JudyinPA stayed in a hotel in Old town when she visited. You may want to ask her which one it was.
