We stayed at the Sofitel in January 2008. Although the external appearance of the hotel is unimpressive, the interior is much better. This was a lovely unpretentious country style hotel with all facilities required including parking. We had 2 rooms, a king and a twin room. The rooms were spacious and the king room had a nice flat screen TV. The hotel was unable to provide us with interconnecting rooms however. We booked through the hotel website and the price of the rooms were reasonable. However, I thought that the late checkout rate was pricey CHF 150 per room. The service was good and most of the staff spoke English. A problem we encountered though was that room service was unable to provide a proper meal outside of the restaurant opening hours, which can mean a bit of a wait. However, the little box of complimentary chocolates was lovely
Unique Quality: The location of this hotel was great. Only a short strol to the old city section, the train station and the main shopping area (5-10 mins walking max) Close to the river and the trams.

Location is good for walking around Zurich and is only 1km to the main train station. We found the room with two twin beds to be very small. The two beds were pushed up against each other with little free room left.

Unique Quality: The rooms are a little small but they are of a very high standard. The hotel is based very close to Zurich station which allows visitors easy access to the city.

This Hotel has the most polite staff, the most comfortable beds and the best breakfast I have experienced for a long time. Location is excellent being 8 minute walk downhill to the station and 1 minute from tram stop. transport with Zurich card is both cheap and brilliantly reliable.
Restaurant is good though limited in choice but about the same price as outside.
All in all a really lovely experience
The Sofitel was our last of four hotels during a two week trip, and we saved the best for last. The room was larger than the average European room, and the bed was amazingly comfortable. The front desk service was helpful and polite. The location was a short walking distance from all the major sights. I would stay then again for sure.
Great hotel, looks very ordinary from the outside but the inside is wonderful. The rooms are just excellent, large, luxurious and comfortable. I've stayed there several times now and the staff are extremely professional and friendly. It's one of those hotels you look forward to revisiting.
The Sofitel in Zurich is a very nice hotel indeed. The rooms are clean, spacious and very well furnished, with a bit of character. Their breakfast (included in our rate) was excellent, and the staff were helpful and friendly. At the rate which we paid (for a weekend night), it was an absolute bargain for a lovely hotel in a very convenient, central location in a nice city.
We chose the Sofitel based on its proximity to the station and usually this means that we must use public transport to get around the town. In Zurich we were able to walk from the hotel to Bahnhofstrasse and down to the lake making the hotel a great location for an overnight stay.
We arrived at the Sofitel around noon and took our bags for safe keeping. We did not expect the rooms to be ready and they weren’t. the staff were aplogetic and told us the rooms would be ready in about an hour. we had lunch in a nearby cafe.
We went back to the hotel around 1pm and the rooms were ready. Both rooms were on the top floor. Our room was on the street side and designed for disabled access. We had no noise issues. It was reasonably spacious with a shower and large vanity in the bathroom. The children’s was a lot more compact, possibly the smallest room on this trip but clean and comfortable. It looked over an inner courtyard. The lift being typically european was even more compact! it was easier to go down in two shifts than trying to squeeze for of us in. We never expect a large lift in small hotels so have no complaints.
As this was a one nighter I can't comment on servicing of rooms other than all we needed was available and the room was clean.
Our only meal inhouse was breakfast and there was plenty to choose from the only negative being slightly slow service and no one to be seen clearing the breakfast dishes away.
Stayed at the Sofitel last weekend and was pleasantly surprised. Check-in was without any problems, we were upgraded to a deluxe room which was huge and we received free champagne and fruits. Bed was more than comfy. Breakfast was great and location is superb. And for 130 euro per night including breakfast for two, this place is a bargain for Zurich on weekends! Will definitely be back.

I am coming to Wettingen Switzerland for a business assignement (June 3 to June 11). I have booked my accomodation in Sofitel Hotel in Zurich. I have few question:
1. How far Wettingen from Sofitel Hotel Zurich? Is it advisable to rent a car or use public transpotation?
2. Where Sofitel hotel is located, centre of city or where?
3. I will spend weekend of June 9 & June 10 in Zurich, any body can advise me how to maximum utilize to see all places pf Zurich?
4. Any general tip for visiting Switzerland?

Hi!I suggest,you take the public transport from Zürich Mainstation.There's a direct connection to Wettingen,check out www.sbb.ch/en. Hotel Sofitel is near the city,you can either walk or take the tram but it's only 2stations from the hotel;)
