We will have one full day in Zurich in mid September of this year and wondered what we MUST see and any suggestions for where we should stay.

Well Grossmunster is kind of a must in Zurich (I think)
I have a few places/info on my page http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/e0453/a8632/4/ but I don't believe I ever fully got around to completing my Zurich page!!! :-D

Go to the tourist office in the railway station and they will give you a map which has a guided walk that includes all the main sites in central Zurich. Follow the recommended route and you can cover it in a couple of hours

This is a narrow street with wonderful houses.. Colorful balconies and shops.. Just spend some time to tour around this small road..
Aprroxiamtely in the middle of the Bahnhos strassse.. Around 700 meter to the station..
Houses in flowers
by matcrazy1
.
There are very many houses with hundreds of flowers in the windows in the old town of Zurich. Don't they love flowers? Hmm... it's not so local Zurich custom it's Swiss custom as well. Am I wrong?

Packing List
by flyingkiwi
Temperature and weather vary enormously therefore it is advisable to pack sensibly. One or two jumpers may still be required even in the summer months along with a comfortable pair of walking boots. This is especially true if you intend to explore the surrounding mountains around Zurich.
Appenzell
by SoCal_Chick
This is a beautiful, picture perfect stop about 60 miles from Zurich.
This village makes its own cheese, wines, beer and spirits! Be sure to sample them all. :)
I hate to be redundant, but again my experience here was nothing short of wonderful. There were plenty of picturesque cobblestone streets, fountains and lovely storefronts to take in. This as well as plenty of craft and goods stores to spend your money.
Just be sure to speak "proper" English (no slang) when speaking with others or you may not be understood.
