Park and Fly Hotel

Typical Ibis Hotel. Overs good deals for leaving your car parked there during your holiday.
Free shuttle to airport runs every 20 minutes.
Clean rooms. Friendly staff. No noise.
We paid 150 CHF for a night with baby and parking for a week.

Unique Quality: None really.

Worst of 6 Ibis hotels we stayed at

Since we had a car and we were heading to the airport the next morning we booked our final night at the Ibis a few kilometers from the airport instead of trying to locate more central accomodations. I booked all of our hotels through Ibis, it was easy and they are relatively cheap, Switzerland hotels tend to be expensive.

Ibis hotels are pretty standard regardless of where you are, the room is pretty basic with a reasonably comfortable bed, a shower, small TV. Toiletries are limited to bar soap and a liquid soap dispenser in the bathroom. That's it, no hair dryer, no iron, no safe. Breakfast is an extra charge so we passed on it.

Unique Quality: What I didn't like about this Ibis is that our non smoking room clearly had people smoking in it, the room reeked of smoke as did the comforter. When we asked at reception she said that people tend to ignore the non smoking designation, nothing they could do about it (yes, there is, it's called an extra cleaning fee). We opened the windows to air it out and there were tour buses and their drivers outside our window so we eventually just lived with the smell. It was also loud in the morning even with the windows closed, same tour buses outside our window.

Parking is extra at this one, we paid 15 CHF, it's based on time (1.50 per hour after the 1st 2 hours), not a flat fee.

Carpet was very dirty.

It was hard to locate the hotel from their directions on the website, it wasn't right off the expressway like the others we stayed at so I'd recommend using Michelin to get directions.

Me and my husband will stay in Zurich for 2 days in August 2007. We are looking for place to stay near the train station (our next stop is Luzern we will take a train there). We do not anything fancy. Clean and private bathroom is a must.

HI! Masha:

Try http://www.hostelworld.com and search under Zurich. You should come across "Hotel Arlette" in the choices. You can go for a room, really nothing fancy but you get the clean private toilet.

The Hotel is less than 10 minutes from the train station if you walk. It's across the lake via a bridge along a side road.

I go to Zurich 2x/year for business. I've stayed at the Hotel du Theatre a couple of times. It is a renovated 1950s theatre and is art deco in design. It isn't fancy but interesting (and clean) and not expensive by Zurich standards. It is a 5-minute walk from the train station and a 3 minute walk from the Old City.I recommend it.

Thanks to Everybody. We actually decided to stay in Luzern (for five nights) and take one or two trips to Zurich. Can anybody recommend nice day trips from Luzern?

HI!

Possibly day trips to Jongfraujoch (though not sure if the weather is alright these days), Grindelwald and Interlaken.

Hi!

You could check out - Ibis Zurich Messe-Airport

http://www.accorhotels.com/accorhotels/fichehotel/gb/ibi/2980/fiche_hotel.shtml

The rooms are small but very clean and a neat bathroom. I got it for 89CHF cause it was a weekend and I was there for a day only. And most importantly the hotel has Airport Bus Service through out the day ( starts from 6:30 am to 12:30 am ). So if you wanna travel just go the airport and take the train to wherever you want. From Airport to Main Zurich station is hardly 10/15 mins....

Just for info, next to this hotel is Formula 1 which offers little rates but excluding bathrooms....so I wouldn't advise that.
You can even book from the above mentioned website, which I did....

All the best, have fun
