Weather in Zurich in June

by kgraves

We are travelling to Zurich in June and would like to know what sort of clothing to pack. Will it still be cold?

Also any comments of the Leoneck Hostel? I think it looks cute but would like to hear what anyone else thinks who has stayed there...

RE: Weather in Zurich in June

i have not stayed at the Leoneck, though i've eaten at the (in-house) Crazy Cow restaurant a few times (fun place, btw). it's not a bad choice; it's only 3 or so stops on Tram 6 if you take it from Central (a block from the Hauptbahnhof), probably 5-7min. the tram stops right in front too, so it would be easy if you bring lots of luggage. alternatively, i might suggest the Hotel Plattenhof; it's just 2 more stops (Platte) from the Leoneck via tram, and it's a chic, modern, boutique-type hotel. i stayed there 2 weeks ago and i loved it.

Travel Tips for Zürich

You absolutly have to walk from the railway station to the lake through 'Bahnhofstraße'. Its the most expensive street of Zurich - you will find the most important shops of the world. And at the end you will see the beautiful lake and behind the swiss mountains - its really beautiful. My best memory of Zurich has nothing to do with the city - because on the one hand I was there because of my tests - and on the other hand I met a friend of mine who I've not seen for long time.

There are 7 Bridges over the Limmat River from the Lake down to the Landesmuseum.
At the Landesmuseum you can take the Limmat Ship which takes you up to the Zurich Horn or the Seerose Restaurant in Wollishofen. You can use a normal ticket for the Tram/Bus in the Zone 10.

Drinking Fountains

by SoCal_Chick

There are plenty of drinking fountains available throughout the city. You can purchase a bottled water than continue to refill it with clean, fresh tasting water afterward. A good way to save money and stay hydrated!

Men's swimming place

by yumyum

This "Männerbadi" is privately run and located in "Schanzengraben". It's free of charge and open from 1st of June till end of August or longer if the weather is still nice. Swimming and sun bathing strictly for men only.

The men's swimming area was originally opened in 1864.

There is also a bar called Rimini bar from 7.30 pm till midnight. The bar is open to men and women!

Rapperswill

by jo104

The beautiful little ‘City of Roses’ has a medieval character dating back to 1229, with romantic lanes and restaurants on the lakeside

We stopped in Rapperswill on our Heidiland tour - unfortunately snow meant it was definetly not rose season

We saw the deer park on the Lindenhof and the picturesque Old Town.

One tour "cityrama" allows you to cruise back to zurich on a boat which has a restaurant onboard, otherwise there is a steam train journey back if it is too cold by boat.
