Just an ordinary Hotel ...
Hotel is located in Zürich West, many sites of interest such as the Technopark, the Musical Theater, the Schiffbau Theater and the Cinemax are within walking distance. Within easy reach are also the Art Gallery, the Opera House and the charming Lake of Zurich. Shopping area Bahnhofstrasse is kindda far, u need to take a cab ... In walking distance to Hotel r some bars and restaurants too, in case u dont want to go to downtown area ...
Rooms are just ok, w basic furniture, could be better, especially the bathrooms ... And also the breakfast is so so .... Unless u dont have any other option, its still ok to stay ...

Not as good as expected
The hotel was clean and pretty basic. A little disappointing considering the 4 stars it was given and the cost. The rooms were small and a little smoky smelling. Don't expect ANY nice views from here and also although double glazed the hotel was noisy through the day and at night, plus the noice from the streets was loud enough to wake you up. Struggled for clothing space. Our open wardrobe at 4 hangers between 2 people and 1 drawer. hardly enough to unpack a week's clothing. Also, you only get 1 pillow. There is no spares so if like me you need more than 1, take it yourself!
Be aware if you use the safe they stick a 50CHF charge onto your bill them remove it when you leave so dont worry! You can use the internet in the lobby for 5CHF for 15 mins. You get much better rates than this in the internet cafe in the city itself.
It is about 8 minutes tram ride away from the city and the trams are regular and easy to use. The area of Zurich West where this hotel was located was not great and a little intimidating at night (and I come from Bradford remember lol).
Breakfast was included in the price and god it was awful. If swiss prices weren't as expensive I would have skipped it after the first day. You get some awful potato stuff, chunks of meat (still unknown lol), not very nice boiled eggs, a couple of cereals, tinned fruit salad and bread. It is edible but certainly not 4 star standard (god Im a snob lol).

Good Value for a 4 Star
I got the room off of Hotelopia by using the VT link. It was the first time I ever booked a hotel through VT and it was a good deal.
It is a typical mid sized inner city European hotel with clean, functional rooms and a decent restaurant. No big amenities but I didn't need any. Also it had a full sized bath which is what you don't get a lot of times.
I had room service one night and it was quick and very good quality.
Unique Quality: Easy public transportation and a good breakfast buffet. The breakfast was included in the room price of $113.00 per night.
Also it is located directly across the street from a cinema. I went to the movies one night and saw "Constantine".

Hi there!Senator Hotel is quiet new hotel here and accesible to the city.I haven't stayed there but I guess, rooms are nice and modern.For nightlife is very ideal,it's not a shopping area,but the trams go straight to Bahnhofstrasse(where the big shops are located) and Train Mainstation.

As said above it's not ideal for shopping. But the tram stop Escher-Wyss Platz is only about 200 meters away. Nr. 4 and 13 take you directly to the Bahnhofstrasse (13, Stop: Hauptbahnhof) or the Niederdörfli (4, Stop: Central).
For Nightlife it's perfect. There are some clubs around: Rohstofflager, Tony Molkerei, Supermarket, Palais Extra and others and also a cinema just vis-à-vis of the Senator.
