Go SHOPPING! The Bahnhofstrasse was where we spent most of our time - SHOPPING. Oh, and I've discovered that there are many jewelry stores here too... Quite amazing, if you ask me. There is an EXCELLENT bookstore here. My personal favorite. And you can find this shop on the left hand side... just a block or two away from the station... and more or less across from the St. Gotthard hotel.
A lovely toy store a la FAO Schwarz in the U.S.A. This is one of the finest toy stores in the world - Franz Carl Weber and you can find it right here in Zurich.
Shopping enthusiasts, you must check out the Globus and Jelmoli Department stores. Globus is on the right hand side, a block back from the Bahnhofstrasse, behind a little park. And Jelmoli is about four blocks further on towards the lake.
If you spend some time window-shopping, you can have a rough idea of what's the current fashion statement the world is wearing... or rather, Europe. I must admit that the Europeans are one of the best dressed people I've had the pleasure of meeting. Really.
