Albinen near Leukerbad, Swiss Valais.
"Arriving in Albinen"
We arrived in Geneva by air from London Luton with Easyjet. Once at the airport (now dark since the flight was delayed), we made our way to the easycar hire depot where we collected our car for the week. This was a little traumatic as we are not used to driving on the other side of the road, changing gears with the other hand, not to mention finding our way to our destination in the dark, freezing cold -12, and navigating a precipitous mountain road. Once we got there, all the squabbles on route were forgiven as we realised what a magnificent setting we were in.
"Albinen village"
This is a romantic little village!
The chalets are all a dark wood (aged from the sun) and the little cobbled streets are a delight to explore.
Albinen is in the center of Wallis/Valais, 12 km from the valley bottom, only 6 km from the famous thermal spa Leukerbad.
Surrounding views are utterly magnificent.
