3 things are the most important facts when buying a house or appartment : Location,Location,Location ! This is where my title comes from and this hotel has an excellent location directely on the banks of Thunersee, all cruiseships are landing there and the noises of cartrafic are taken away by a big park around the hotel. Along the northern banks of the lake there is just local car trafic anyway, all the trucks and heavy trafic are goind on the highway at the other side of the lake.
Unique Quality: I did never stay there, but was working closeby, once even almost got a job there and can simply tell you they have everything including a spa and wellness-area. The only tiny disadvantage is the fact that you cannot go there by train and a local bus, the slow ships or your own car are the only way to get to Interlaken & the surrounding mountains.
Merligen is village at the northern bank of Thuner See, where you will have a great view of the mountains around Jungfrau, with all of the heavy tourist-streams of the southern banks of the lake. Merligen is an interesting place to go for a day-excursion, maybe in connection with the castles of Huenibach and Oberhofen. The village is full of lovely wooden houses and also an old palace, dating back to the 14th century : Schloss Ralligen, it is used as a guest-house today. The largest hotel in Merligen is Hotel Beatus , take a look at the various DEALS that they offer through-out the year.
