"Nailing"

In this "game" the target is to get a nail in to a piece of wood with as little hammerstrokes as possible, this sounds easy but: you are only allowed to use the narrow side of the hammer....

You are allowed to stick the nail in to the wood so far it won't fall down before you begin. Then you put the hammer at the edge of the wood and try to hit the nail. Its not so easy....

Normaly the looser pays for the next round of drinks.

Aparantly this fun was invented up there. I don't know.... But it is fun anyway.

It can be done in most of the apre-ski bars and is free.

Samnaun - The only swiss duty free zone

At 1840m altitude is located the only swiss duty free zone.The swiss gouvernment decided to grant this status to its inhabitants to boost economy in the area and provide a way of living for the locals.
Nested between 3000m high peaks , the village is accessed from Austrian side through high alpine road constantly climbing up and following the relief of mountain. Entering and exiting tunnels and sharp turns. You can enter either by Pfunds or if coming from Italy by Nauders castle , taking the road to St.Moritz.

All around us at the top....in every direction we looked there is BEAUTY like I've never seen before....

I think we were on the Austrian side here...just a few steps....and a line in the snow somewhere....The Austrian Resort of Ishgl....looks like Samnaun from here...just like it...

I was told that English speaking people tend to gravitate to Ishgl to ski and holliday...although I dont know for sure...and that theres more going on in Ishgl party wise...
I was certainly more than happy to stay and enjoy my time here in Samnaun.....

I do know that there certainly wasn't much English heard around Samnaun...whatever....
