Pürumärt (farmers market)

This market takes place every Friday from 4 pm on the big square in old town. There you can buy local specialities like bread, cheese, dried meat and of course white wine. The locals seem to gather there for a chat sipping some wine. There was also an ice cream stand and most importantly a raclette stand.

Swimming pool Mühleye

The Mühleye swimming pool is located next to the Vispa river. It has a kid's pool, a non-swimmer and a swimmer section. There is also a big slide and the high divers can jump from one or three meters. Entrance fee for adults is CHF 6.00. There are a kiosk, showers and toilets and changing facilities.

VT meeting 13th July 2007

On 13th July I travelled from Zurich to Visp by train which takes along the old Loetschberg track about 3 hours to meet with Ilse and her family.

Ilse met me at the railway station with Max and we went to the camping ground and then swimming. Later we all went to explore the weekly farmers market and the old part of Visp before sitting down to a delicious meal in a local restaurant. After walking back to the camp ground Ilse and her husband Marcel took me by car to Naters which has a very pretty old part and a "Beinhaus" where the sculls are kept.
