Centre Donetsk Apartments 1: Central Staliniki Apartment
We stayed in a Stalinki apartment for two nights in October 2013. There were five of us and so with all the hotels getting booked up we decided to get an apartment instead.
When we arrived we were offered a free upgrade and so ended up in a great central location in Artema Street. Very handy for stumbling back to after a late bar crawl.
Our apartment had two bedrooms and a pull-out bed inside the couch.
It had a smallish kitchen albeit with a large fridge freezer and a dishwasher. There was a huge flat screen television along with free WiFi.
It suited us down to the ground.

Liverpool Art Hotel, live music bar, food court: Must be worth a look
I haven't stayed here so far but if I visit Donetsk again it will defo be my choice of accommodation. As well as being what they claim is a 3 star hotel is a live music venue, karaoke bar, restaurant and a great food market with a wide choice of very inexpensive and ready to eat food. I ask a local about the places to go in Donetsk and I was given this place as the recommendation for something a little bit different. I am advised this is the heart of the local slightly alternative scene and is popular with the intellectual types in Donetsk.
ARTEMA st is the main drag in Donetsk. If you stand facing the status of Lenin on the main square, the Liverpool is around a 10 min walk in the slightly uphill direction along ARTEMA st. You will see the Liverpool on the right hand side.
What is also interesting is that I asked in the hotel I stayed in while in Donetsk where the Liverpool bar is. My question was related to checking out some live music. With the Liverpool offering hotel and food (ie in competition with the hotel I was staying in), I was told it was twice as far away as it really is. This suggests to me the Liverpool is rated by the competition and seen as a threat.

Victoria Hotel: Probably the best hotel in Donetsk
This very nice 4-star-hotel was opened in 2003 and is situated in a park near the newly built super staduim of Shakhtar Donetsk, 8-10 km from the city airport. I have visited it several times and for me this is really the best hotel in the city if you consider the room price and the quality of the hotel/services that you receive for this price. The staff is quite friendly, the room is clean and looks new (the hotel has 38 rooms in total), the sport facilities are really good and working till 10 or 11 pm(I have witnessed even people from Donetsk visiting the fitness of the hotel). The two things that I don't like is the fact that you don't have wireless in the room and you should run around with cables (you can always ask for a cable at the reception) and the fact that you are charged for traffic, not per day/24 hours. The other problem that you might face is to hear the loud music from the hotel disco club (it could accommodate around 100 people) if you have a room on the first floors (the hotel if I remember well has 8 floors).
Very good swimming pool, the price/quality ratio

Prague hotel: One of the best hotels in Donetsk
This hotel is located in a park nearby the city cente and has a very interesting architecture which could be also seen in the unique style that each of the hotel 41 rooms has. 19 of this rooms are in the so-called block A, 22 in Block B. There are different categories of rooms, but all of them are quite clean and relatively big in size; buffet breakfast, gym and swimming-pool are included into the room rate. The room rates start from 740 UAH (around 90 USD) for a standard room. There is a very nice restautant in the hotel just for 25 people with the name "Zlata Praha" that is quite classy as interior and cusine and serves European and Ukrainian dishes. The hotel offers a nice sport centre and a very good indoor swimming pool as well as a guarded parking for its guests. There is a free WiFi in the hotel lobby.I would recommend Prague hotel to everyone who's visiting Donetsk!
Very stylish rooms, central location, quite good and cozy restaurant, very nice indoor swimming pool

Victoria: Hommage to a Lady
I didnt stay in this hotel but the story was very interesting for me.According to the story the hotel was made by the owner just to show her love to his wife Victoria ...Some sort of Taj Mahal in Ukraine business included of course ...
The 4 star deluxe Hotel Victoria is located not far from the city centre. Donetsk airport is located in about 30 minutes car ride from the hotel (8 km).
The main building of Victoria Hotel centre has 11 floors and offers accommodation in 38 guest rooms of different categories.

Prague ("Praga"): 4 stars
Hotel looks and feels very lonely, very few people stayed there at same time as me. Big new grey building, with modern planning. All rooms are huge, some of them have 2 floors, but I think no balconys at all. Rooms are very good equiped, lots of space. Breakfast was very tasty! Wi-Fi only in lobby. Also hotel has pool, sauna and gym, but had no time to chek them out :(
