Rus Accord Hotel: decent hotel

We spent 4 days in the hotel. It was a decent 3-star hotel I must admit. 3-star hotels are usually disappointing, but Rus was pleasantly good. However, there was a huge problem we had to face. No one spoke English! You can imagine our discomfort, especially when we had to order food! The hotel menu was also in Ukrainian only so it was random order for us. Not only did we have to order food we knew nothing of but also we had to use sign language to show the lady working at the hotel's pharmacy store what kind of medicine we needed. I have to admit that was a first. I believe it is unacceptable for a hotel not to have personnel with English knowledge (and I am not even English myself).

The rooms were comfortable enough. We had a view of the Kiev Olympic Stadium.

I rented an apartment from one of the local dating agency's that was very clean with a great view. they never pushed me to use there dating service since I didn't need it and they had the best price for interpreters in the city.

the park can be seen from the balcony and the location put every thing within a short walk of the door.

Some apartment: Living it up on Lenina St

I had a great time. The apartment was nice, clean. It did need some screens on the windows. And the window to Lenina St was load in the mornings. This was only a problem after drinking Ukrainian beer all night long. We had a complete apartment with washing machine for about $75 a night. We were told that there were cheaper apartments but it was a last minute call and was well worth it. Just a short walk to the city center.

Yalta Hotel

I stayed Yalta Hotel for 4 nights. Hotel is 3star but is not more then 2 stars. Rooms r very old. It takes 45 minutes for hot water. It has a nice park for walking. Breakfast seems OK.

Pan Hotel: Sumy's Best Hotel

The Pan Hotel is located at the center of the city of Sumy and within walking distance of just about everything. There are Western Union's, ATM's, & Banks everywhere. The only McDonalds in Sumy is located about 1 block from the hotel. You will find just about all of the western comforts as well as internet service which was available in the suites and in their business center. Russian is the primary language there and the hotel staff was very patient and accomodating for English speaking people such as myself. The restaurant located within the hotel had great food and everyhting there is always a great aroma coming from the kitchen. The two key things that most westerners can appreciate is hot water and toilet paper which was readily available in the bathrooms.

Numerous agencies in Kiev will arrange for long-term visitors (1 week or more) to stay in an apartment, often in quite nice locations. This is a much more affordable (and authentic) way to experience Kiev.

Many agencies exist (many of who accept major credit cards), but try "Kiev Apartments."

Live in an actual Ukrainian neighborhood and avoid the personality-less and drabb international hotel scene.

YHA KIEV: Youth Hostel

Hard to find this place. The instructions were clear, but sadly the Metro has no English and the stations seem to have 2 different names.

The hostel staff are very friendly and were one of the few Ukrainians who spoke English. The room was clean and pretty quiet, the shared bathroom was ok, but smelled really bad.

The location is 10 mins walk from the Metro stop, but not too close to the centre (wherever that may be)

Radisson SAS-Kiev: Radisson SAS-Kiev -- Drab but Safe

While the Radisson SAS in Kiev is probably the "nicest" hotel in the city, the hotel destinctly lacks any semblence of personality, making one's stay there somewhat drab. Other options -- particularly B&Bs -- exist in Kiev for business travelors, so keep these in mind when making hotel arrangements.

iI found this real estate company as 5 star service.
People are great, apartments just awesome. Very high quality, right in the center of the Kiev. They also can pick you up and dropp off at the airport or anywhere you want.

I found it to be better the Hotel and cheapers per day.

They also can serve breakfast if you ask for it, linear being changed all the time.
So just simply had great experience with them an d wanted to share with others :)

View of apartment i stayed is just uniques i think , cause there is only 3 apt with this view in whole Kiev :))
some apt they showed me have jacuzzi and even sauna.
All apt are very fashionably furnished and have Tv, DVD and amentities that r handy.

A: "From the airport you can catch the bus which takes you to the main station in Kiev.Don't know the exact cost as it's risen since I last used it,but maybe around 35..."
