Dnipro Hotel, Kiev, Ukraine - Reviews and Hotel Information

The hotel Dnipro is certainly a unique place. i have never stayed in a hotel quite like it. i thought i had hit the jackpot when i arrived as the front reception area looks quite magnificent however sadly my first impressions did not last too long.
checking in was more difficult thanit should have been. the receptionists spoke mediocre english and appeared very agitated at the most simple request. the hotel is under refurbishment at the moment and i think it will be like this probably for at least another couple of years as i had been told about the work 9 months ago and they have only done the top four floors and the hotel i think has at least 12 floors!!
my room i dont think had been done up in years as it really was a very depressing room, i figured i would only be sleeping there so wasn't too bothered although i did ask if i could get my room changed for a refurbished room and after much looks of annoyance from the staff at hte front desk i was told the hotel was fully booked and a room change was impossible before the receptionist left without as much as a smile.
the staff rudeness continued into breakfast the next morning. the Dnipro boasts that it has the biggest breakfast buffett in the whole of kiev. i dont know if that is true but i can tell you they certainly have the coldest breakfast bufett in ukraine!! nothing was even remotely warm so if cold bacon and veg if your thing you will love it. i asked the chef to cook me up an ommelette for the rest of my stay. she wasn't very pleased by this and told me to sit down. thinking someone would take it over to me i waited for 5 mins and no sign of it so after 10 mins i went over to see what was going on. she had cooked my ommelette but had left it sitting on the table next to her so it was lovely and cold when i got it!!! fantastic stuff.
i did go up to have a look at the refurbished floors and they did look a thousand times better tha the older floors so if you do reserve a room here make sure you book a room on the top4 floors.

the hotel has a leasure centre which is a bit small but very nice all the same. it also has a casino and a strip club. i went into the casino to have a look and it seemed perfectly normal so i played a few hands of blackjack. i was the only one on thre table so i was told i must play with two hands which made me loose my money twice as fast. the hotel also has security boxes for rent for about a dollar a day which is fine. the hotel also has 24hr room service available however the service is appalling. it took over 1hr for me to receive a ham and cheese sandwich with hot chips except they sent me potato crisps instead of chips. the security gaurds also pester you every single night for you to hire a prostitute that they wil arrange for you.
i most definately would not recommend anyone to stay at the hotel Dnipro.
