Don't get a hotel, rent a private flat!

    by

Russia & Ukraine are nothing like what many think! Kiev is very cosmopolitan, something like the Paris of Eastern Europe. -- But try memorizing the 30 letters of the Cyrillic alphabet; it will be helpful. ;-)

Unique Quality: Walk everywhere! Don't miss the old monastary grounds with their catacombs or the main churches, they're stunning. Try the open markets. -- I could eat at "Dva Goozim" (The Two Ducks), a cafeteria style cafe on Krechatik (the main street), every day and not be unhappy.

Directions: Photos of: Saint Andrews Cathedral, Kiev at night.

Re: Taxi from Airport cost please

The situation with taxis in Kiev airport is very weird. Usually, taxi drivers approach you immediately you pass the passport and custom control and once they see you are foreigner, they can charge you up to USD100 for such trip. Normally, it would cost about UAH 180 - UAH 200 which is around USD 25 at the moment. I suggest you to call the taxi company or contact them in advance and ask to meet you personally in the airport. The full list of Kiev taxis is here: http://www.kievtaxi.com.ua/. Some of them have web-pages, so maybe you can write them in advance and ask to meet you.

As an alternative, you could get the bus from Kiev airport to the Railway station, around 30 grivna, then get a cheaper taxi at the station to any part of the city centre for a couple of dollars.
As stated the taxi drivers besiege you at the airport and yes you can get caught for lots of money

Depending on what part of the city you are visiting you can negotiate the fare for around thirty us or you can go to the taxi stand on the right when you exit the terminal. be prepared to pay in local currency from them. you can exchange some money at the airport but you can get a better rate in the city, there are plenty of places just look for a sign.

$40 is closer to what you might pay.they might settle for $30. But then,,, take min bus cost about 25uah, $4 to train station,, that located is central area, then take a taxi,, to whever ,,that would be cheaper. A.

Friendship Park

by hunterV

Frequenting Friendship Park located on the high bank of the River Dnipro and enjoying the views of the Friendship Arch and the river with the opposite flat bank (left bank).
There's a bistro, an amphitheater and an observation platform there.
All in all it's a quiet place. They say, it is a very nice place for sweethearts.
The locals say it's their Sweethearts Park.
