There were definitely good and bad points to this hotel. I am sure that it was a fantastic hotel 20 years ago but she is showing her age.
The rooms were clean but the carpets were becoming threadbare, the linens were similarly clean but worn. There was wifi available through the hotel with wifi configured for every floor.
The staff was friendly with a relatively large number of people speaking English and the included breakfast buffet was good with several different offerings each day.
While there were some issues with the materials (mostly the age of the rooms) I would stay there again, the price was low for the area and the accommodations were clean and adequate. Being in the middle of everything, it is a good value.
Unique Quality: The hotel is right in the heart of Kiev. The Saint Soffia, Lavra, St. Michaels, etc are all within easy walking distance as are many shopping/dining areas.
I first stayed in this hotel 7 years ago and I was impressed, I went back in May 2012 and was disappointed. The hotel seems to have gone downhill, the rooms are extremely basic BUT it was clean. The quality of the rooms did not justify the price of nearly £70 per night. I think that customers are really paying for location more than anything else. The continental breakfast was nice and the reception staff now speak English which they didn't 7 years ago. There is also a metro station practically outside of the hotel and the bus stop is to the side of the hotel.
The hotel has always been clean during my visits, both times I have visited there hasn't been any plugs in the bath but I usually take showers so that doesn't bother me too much.
In my opinion the bedrooms are in need of a re-vamp now. I booked a superior double and had a side view of the Independence Square which was fine but the bedding was basic and the decorating was done to a minimum. Would I stay in the Hotel Kozatsky again? If you were to ask me 7 years ago I would have said yes because I thoroughly enjoyed my stay but I now I would probably spend the little bit more money and stay at the Ukraina or other central hotels in the city.
With the hotel being in the centre of Kyiv the prices are on parr with others in the area. There are cheaper hotels in the city but much further away from the action.
Unique Quality: The hotel Kozatsky is the perfect hotel if you want something slap, bang in the centre of Kyiv but if you want something luxurious or more up market then this isn't the hotel for you.
There is a wheel chair ramp in the hotel for wheel chair access.
Metro station practically outside of the hotel, bus stops to the left of the hotel and the underground shopping centre entrance just in front of you.
Directions: On Independence Square
near the independence square and just above the GLOBUS underground city in Kiev
Unique Quality: special service and warm accommodation
Directions: independence square

The Kozatsky Hotel is suppose to be located in the very centre of Kiev, on Independence Square. Has anyone stayed here, or does anyone know anything about this hotel? Thanks!

and the pictures of the rooms here:
It is a two star hotel, but it has a perfect location: in the very center of Kyiv, near the major metro lines, within a walking distance to most of the sites and the best restaurants.
Haven't stayed there myself but heard about this hotel.
The location is excellent, the service is... don't expect smth good indeed. The hotel is not of many "stars" and as all the hotels in Ukraineare over-rated.. just be prepared. It the most probably won't be bad but won't be too good either.
