Does anyone have any information, good or bad, about the Chervona Kalyna Hotel (www.chervonakalina.com.ua) in Kiev?
I am possibly considering having my wedding celebration there with 30-40 guests.
Any feedback would be hugely appreciated!!!!!

Don't know about the hotel, but the restaurant is ok.

Never been there but from what I see it's very far away from the city center. I would suggest you to use one of reliable restaurants. There are two major restaurant chains in Kiev with good quality services. You can check them here: http://2k.com.ua/eng/main.php, http://www.karta.ua/eng/index.html.

Obviously good street maps about Kiev are hard to get, even if you search the internet you might spend hours to find something useful.
I was lucky to find a precise and readable interactive map (Latin or Cyrillic letters) that really goes down to naming of the streets and house numbers.

Sofiya Kievskaya Complex. Sofiysky Cathedral 2
There is legend that Tatars wished to destroy the cathedral. They stayed around the cathedral and some warriors fighted fired arrows. But the arrows didn't achieve the cathedral walls but like boomerang returned to the warriors and killed them. So other warriors were in shock and denied to fire or to destroy the cathedral.

St. Nikolas Roman Catholic Church
The spires of two towers of St.Nikolas Roman Catholic Church rise over Chervonoarmiys'ka Str. This church was built in the manner of German Gothic Cathedrals in 1899-1909 by architect Vladislav Gorodetsky and sculptor Emilio Sala.
Now there is also a Hall of Organ and Chamber Music. Very good concerts of organ music as well as international organ music festivals are being held there.
