Annunciation Cathedral
by hunterV
Visiting the Cave Monastery you will see this new cathedral that was restored on the territory of the monastery at the place of the former Annunciation Cathedral blown up by the authorities in 1941.
The cathedral looks quite modern now and impressed me as a great work of art and human labor.
You can see some spaces of a brick wall below to illustrate the old brick-laying traditions...

Ukraine was earlier a bit difficult to visit due to visa regulations. But that is history if you are a citizen of the European countries, Canada, USA or Japan. You can visit Ukraine without visa and stay 90 days.
Sofiya Kievskaya Complex. Sofiysky Cathedral
by bugulma
Sofiysky Cathedral was founded in 1037 by Yaroslav Mudry. The cathedral, in my opinion, is a little copy (at least inside) of Aya Sofya in Istanbul, that was Orthodox Cathedral till XV century. XII-XIII centuries were not good for the cathedral. First it was pillaged by the Slavic troops from the North (it was time when different Russain Princes were at war between them). Then it was pillaged by Tatar troops that came to Kiev in 1240.
