Gostinny Dvor: Great hotel with excellent service
This hotel combines the best of a five star hotel with a bed and breakfast. Take time to get to know the staff. They are great. I made some solid friendships with them. They are very helpful.
The rooms are of large size, even the smallest rooms. The bathrooms are very nice. The more expensive rooms are worth the indulgence. It is very clean and safe.
It is a very nice hotel. I highly recommend it.
Prices range from about $80USD to $220USD.

Unique Quality: It is not a far walk from market area and down town squares. The museum is close by as is the enternal flame.

Private Accomadation: If you are caught in the middle, ask a taxi driver
When you arrive Lugansk in Russian Christmas early in January, you are lost...
Everything closed...
Offices renting out flats as well.
As we know..., Lugansk has no tourist information or service.
Only if you go for a dating trip your agency can help you, but not sure in the New Year holyday, offend from December 29th and then 2 weeks.
I had made a reservation on hotel, but the people could not find it...
I gave Lugansk 12 hours before I would go to Kiev by train.
Asking a taxi drive, he contact his daughter, and she had a friend willing to rent out a flat.
Private. Paid 15 USD per day. Invited to parties too and even to an American church, which I refused.
Doing this way, this lady got all the money and you get an itroduction to many kind of lives in Lugansk.
Maybe not for everyone, you you need to find an honest driver...
But I reconmend it to all of you, and Lugansk to get a tourist agency or two or three.
Unique Quality: You get in touch with ordinary people, flat of high standard as well.
Bath, cable with BBC World, central in Sovietskaya.
And introduced to 3 parties during one week.
A lot of nice people.

On my most recent stay in Lugansk, March 2005, I met with Victor, aka HunterV, he was able to find me an very affordable apartment, $20.00 per day. Plus $20.00 deposit for the phone. (refundable) on the East End. It was 2 rooms, kitchen and bath. Front entry. Just a block from 2 grocery stores, a couple of clubs. A couple of "casinos." One of the casinos I used often as my local "currency exchange." Very conveinent and hospitable area. The kitchen was somewhat small and needed a few things, but overall an excellant value. It certainitly beats the apartment I rented last summer on my first visit there. From a internet service at 5x the cost. So diffinately shop around for prices, they are out there.

A: "Lugansk is known to host a girlie mafia (sometimes - it does not even has to do with Lugansk!). So be aware. Otherwise try to get to Kiev, Aerosvit offers NYC-Kiev-NYC..."
