Shakhtyorskiye Zori: Our Stay at the Sanatorium

Last time we stayed in Rovenki on the invitation of the city council that provided us a suite in a coalminers' sanatorium called Coalminers' Dawn in English.
The room was on the second floor of the Soviet legacy building in the suburbs of Rovenki in a nice and quiet countryside.
We did not use the medical treatment amenities like the coalminers do. They get the sanatorium package during their vacation for three weeks and almost for free as a reward for good work.
We were taken about the medical base of the sanatorium by our hosts and were very impressed.

Medical treatment opportunities if you stay the complete period of three weeks provided you pay the complete sum of $500 for three weeks.
There is a nice park in an oak grove located in front of the sanatorium where you can walk or sit on a bench enjoying the countryside.
You can see interesting small sculptures in the park.

Rovenchanka: Local Sauna

When we stayed at "Rovenchanka" we went to the local sauna.
It is just round the corner at the parking lot.
There are two small houses: they charge a bit more for the sauna in the bigger building.
We paid $15 for one hour of water & steam enjoyment (a company of four people).

Private Motel: At the Parking Lot

This motel located close to the city state hotel is another alternative ($50 a day).

All modern amenities, the sauna is located next to the motel. Come and enjoy!

Batiscaf: Expensive Alternative

This modern hotel located in the same building with a nightclub has only six rooms (from 150 UAH to 200 UAH) with all modern conveniences.
You only have to call them beforehand to reserve a room.

Located in the same building with a nightclub on the outskirts of the city in a busy residential area.

Rovenchanka: Dzerzhinsky Street Hotel

This is where I stayed each time I was there.
(Now this hotel is being reconstructed, as our friends at the city council told us)The hotel occupies two floors in a nine-storey dormitory and has 38 beds at its disposal.
The hotel is still a state property.
Its biggest problem is absence of running water. The water is collected in the bathtubs.
So to wash your face you have to bring a mug with you.
I had my metal mug with me that I had taken with me from home just in case.
The price was only $5 a bed in a three-bed room.

Soviet style hotel bringing you back to your college dormitory days...
Spartan conditions with no hot and running water ... Never mind: the sauna is just round the corner (about $25 an hour for a company of four)...
