The hotel had a cafeteria with very limited choices and no one spoke English. After 5 days or it occurred to them it would be easier to allow me to go into the kitchen and point to this and that and we somehow came up with some interesting meals. I honestly liked the staff as they were hard working but between us we had no language in common. We somehow got around it. One lady Jahnna was especially kind and helpfull;-( and the kitchen staff was great!
Peter had worked here, knew the staff and got me a special deal; a room with a balcony for $3US. Somehow despite living in Lutsk all his life and actually working at this very hotel, Peter couldnt tell me the name of the hotel OR the name of the street it was on. In fact. no one actually knew what to call it. So we ended up calling this hotel the NYET ZAVOOT (No Name) as it had a Russian name before Ukraine declared independence and was also on Leninskaya Prospect which all changed after glastnost. 2 years later no one could tell me the NEW name of the street OR the NEW name of this hotel and it had no markings or marquee at all. Therefore I called it the Hotel Nyet Zavoot on Nyet Zavoot Prospeckt. The NO NAME Hotel on NO NAME street.
