The entrance is huge, u can get ur money changed at this hotel and u can have some coffee or drinks in the huge lounge.
I didnt stay here but we had some coffee and very yammy "torte".
In front of the hotel there are many taxis if u need it. Their cheap!
Accross the hotel there is a beautifull church and on the left side there are some great shop and on the street itself u can buy fruit, cigarettes, food and more. Also there is this small cafe where u can buy vodka per gram.

    On the picture: bankoffices.

Unique Quality: A modern, 14 storey hotel, located near the historic city centre of Uzhgorod. The 600-room hotel has single, double and luxury suite accommodations.
There is a restaurant, bars, currency exchange(just inside the entrance on the right) , beauty salon and parlor, post office and parking.

    Directions: center

Budapest is much easier...
Minibus or commuter train to Chop (less than 1 euro)+ Chop-Zahony train (app.2 euro one way)+ variety of trains from Zahony to BP (app. 15 euro+2 euro if you want to use InterCity)

Travel Tips for Uzhhorod

Historical centre

by IngaA

As usual, the most "visited" place is the city centre. Romantic narrow streets, ancient buildings, little bars and Uzh river.
I am sure, you will enjoy the little promenad in the centre of Uzhhorod. I just had a good time there

local newspaper

by catnl

this is a page from the regional newspaper at Uzhgorod.
article about my org. printed dec.1997.
When we had the first transport to Uzhhorod a newspaper came to take an interview about our organization because it was accidently exactly on Dec.5th. the children got their presents. At the time i was their i forgot which date it was because of all the work.
Faith maybe, the children were very happen because it was the first time they got some toy or cuddle just for themselves:-)

Museum of Folk Architecture Uzhgorod 2004

Subcarpathian Rus' Museum of Folk Architecture and Customs

a museum with houses from the 19th-20th century.
we didnt spend enough time here i would have liked to walk around all day and see every detail but time was limited so we just entered a few homes and i talked with 2 ladies about shoes and clothings from that time.
Sure a must see activity!

The place where 3 states come together

"City near Uzh river"

Uzhhorod
A charming city in Trans Carpathian region, the "Wetsrnest" point of Ukraine.
It was a part of Austrian0Hungarian empire, but it belonged to its "hungarian" part. A lot of people there speak hungarian more fluently than ukrainian.
The city is "divided" in two parts by Uzh, which can seem quite small but it causes a lot of trouble in spring time when the waters come from Carpathian mountains and the city often suffers of flood. The city centre is typically European, with narrow streets and nice buildings of classic, barocco and renaissernce style.
