Stunning location and excellent facilities. A good deal on Laterooms (£90 prpn BnB) meant that our stay was good value. Slightly let down by breakfast - a 4 star hotel should serve decaf coffee and offer vegetarian options, and service was very slow.
Stayed here for 1 night in February. The location of the hotel was fantastic, on the edge of Loch Ard.
The hotel room was large, but the furniture had seen better days, and was dated. The view from the room was excellent, but the windows was dirty and paint was peeling.
I think the whole hotel could do with a make over, as the interior was a little dated.
I did like the swimming pool and sauna area.
Service in the restaurant was slow but food was nice.
We have just spent a couple of days at the Forest Hills Resort where we had booked the ‘romantic break offer’ advertised as comprising of DB&B with a bottle of champagne, box of chocolates and bucks fizz breakfast, in reality what we received was a ½ bottle of champagne and a few matchmakers and we are still waiting for the bucks fizz to materialise. On their website they advertise all sorts of offers but find that most of them are unavailable when you actually book and not only that we were then going to be charged for our infant when children are supposed to stay free of charge!
Hotel itself was tired, dated and in need of some care and attention, not to mention a lick of paint. On the plus side the food was excellent although you didn’t always get what you ordered from the menu, although it did resemble the original choice in some ways. Unfortunately all the Eastern European restaurant staff couldn’t muster up a smile between them and looked totally miserable all of the time, although most were good at their jobs and food was always well presented and piping hot, compliments to the chef.
On reflection we certainly wont be rushing back to this hotel, and its time the management looked at recruiting some friendly faces on arrival at reception so they don’t scare all their guests away!
If you’re looking for a bit of luxury and hospitality give this place a miss!
I was staying at Aberfolye with my cousin (26), aunt and uncle, along with another family with young children. The scenery was breathtaking driving up to this hotel- lovely area for cycling (if you dont mind hills...and by hills, i mean mountains!) and for scenic drives. Some beautiful rural towns with alot more to offer shop-wise than the very basic town of Aberfoyle itself.
Whilst appreciating good food, i admit i do have a very limited palet. Some food on the menu was extremely OTT and i found myself wishing they'd have something more widely enjoyed on the menu. Dont misunderstand, the food was superb...when i knew what i was eating! Presentation was always immaculate and staff helpful. I had a surprise birthday cake from the staff after our group meal, which was fantastic, if a little embarrassing in such a fancy hotel!
Rooms were tidy, and well kept on a daily basis. Cleaning staff were especially friendly, wishing us a pleasant day and asking us what we'd been up to, at the end of each day.
A lovely break, thoroughly enjoyed by the whole group.
As if people will stop wanting to see this!
